Hello my darlings! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, reporting live from Catford, South East London, the place to be! As you all know, I'm always up for an adventure, and this trip has been no exception. Oh, it’s such a fabulous place to be, I've been tutu-ing my way through the city, finding some truly spectacular places to share with you all!
Let me tell you, getting to Catford was an experience in itself. I just love trains! There's something so glamorous and exciting about travelling by train - all the different faces, the bustling of the station, the quiet time to catch up on my beauty regime. Not to mention, a chance to rock a fabulous travel outfit (think sparkly trousers and a feather boa!). I must say, my favourite outfit combo for a travel day is a sleek black jumpsuit paired with a pink beret and pearl necklace. But no outfit is complete without my trusty pink travel tutu, which I keep rolled in a dedicated bag, of course! It's so lightweight I can just slip it over any ensemble - instant glam, wherever I go!
Once I arrived, Catford welcomed me with open arms, or should I say, open shops! I mean, can you imagine finding so many cute vintage boutiques all nestled in the heart of the city? I was in absolute heaven. Now, I can't help but have a bit of a confession - I went a bit tutu-crazy with all the vintage clothes I found! A stunning silk scarf that is the exact shade of pink I adore, some bejeweled earrings, and oh my goodness, you wouldn't believe the gorgeous beaded clutch bag I found! Let's just say my shopping trip is already shaping up to be one of the highlights of the entire trip!
After I’d had my fill of shopping, I was ready to take on the cultural side of Catford. I know you might be thinking - Catford for culture? It's the least likely place on earth! And you might be right - except when a pink tutu queen is there! I just had to see the Catford Broadway, it's been called a 'cultural hub' and 'an important part of London life' - no pink tutu queen could miss that!
Now, you know how I love a good theatre performance! Catford Broadway did not disappoint! They have a stunning community theatre, where they're staging 'Peter Pan'. Now, it might sound strange, but this theatre reminded me of some of the amazing performance venues in Derbyshire, my hometown. And I know what you’re thinking – what’s a derbyshire girl doing in the bright lights of London? Well, my darlings, let me tell you a little secret - sometimes the best experiences are the most unexpected! Back in my days studying science, I stumbled upon the University’s ballet club. That’s how it all started, you know? I tried on a pink tutu for a university charity event and I’ve never looked back! I don’t even want to tell you how many pink tutus I have now in my apartment - a dedicated wardrobe space to my favourite garment - a real scientist’s pink paradise.
My love for tutus is deeply personal, it’s how I became Pink Tutu Sparkles after all, but it goes way deeper. You know I like a good pink! I like everything pink. The colour pink makes me feel good and that is why I’m doing my little part to make the world a bit more pink. Every single pink tutu I sell, every single one I get someone else wearing, is like spreading a little pink love! So yes, I admit, there's something special about the magic that comes from wearing a pink tutu. It doesn't matter what you do in life - whether you're working in a science lab by day and a fabulous pink tutu drag queen by night, like me, or you’re just starting out - it can make you feel fabulous and confident and I can promise you it has the power to make you sparkle like nothing else can!
