This week's trip to Denton was all about exploring a new part of the country, a town brimming with character and a definite passion for all things sparkly! I hopped on a train, armed with my trusty suitcase overflowing with pink tutus (of course!) and my trusty ballet shoes, and embarked on a journey to the North, a place I've been yearning to explore for ages.
The moment I arrived in Denton, I knew this place was special. The cobbled streets, quaint shops, and friendly faces all welcomed me with open arms. As a drag queen, I always love a good change of scenery, and Denton did not disappoint!
After checking into my fabulous little boutique hotel – decorated with an oh-so-vintage flair, complete with feather boas and chandeliers - I had a chance to freshen up and pick my perfect outfit for my evening show. Now, I might be a pink tutu connoisseur, but my collection is vast, and choosing the right one for each occasion is like picking a bouquet of flowers – each one has a different scent, feel, and story. For Denton, I chose a fluffy, bright pink number with cascading layers of tulle and a dazzling pink feather trim. It was a perfect match for the enchanting setting of the historic town hall, where I would be performing later.
Ballet Brilliance
Speaking of enchanted settings, before I started getting ready for my performance, I decided to indulge my inner ballerina and check out the local ballet school. I must say, they have a lovely space in Denton – very light and airy, with mirrored walls and a gorgeous stage for performances. It made me long for the days of practicing my pirouettes and grand jetés! As a self-proclaimed "ballet fanatic" – and a big believer in never forgetting the things that make us feel alive, I took a quick lesson. Turns out, I've still got it!
The next morning, it was time to venture out and explore all that Denton had to offer. Of course, any good trip has to involve a little shopping! It’s practically my lifeblood, darling! Denton didn’t disappoint! There were vintage stores bursting with antique gems, boutiques brimming with bold colours, and little shops tucked away down back alleys – every single one filled with treasures! After a few hours of browsing, I managed to acquire a truly magnificent feather boa and a collection of sparkling headbands – what’s a drag queen without a bit of bling, eh?
Fashionista Adventures
While shopping is a key part of my travels, it wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a few special moments that get my creative juices flowing. And guess what? Denton delivered! I stumbled upon a little workshop where local artists create and sell unique pieces of jewellery, each piece adorned with dazzling crystals and intricate designs. This sparked a whole new side of my inner fashionista. I spent the afternoon, chatting with the local artists, and trying on unique necklaces and earrings that would have looked perfect with any one of my pink tutus.
For a drag queen like myself, finding unique pieces like this is an absolute treasure. I love supporting local businesses, and who doesn't love some beautiful, unique sparkle? After a day filled with sparkles and inspiration, I spent the evening sipping tea in a charming tearoom – complete with comfy velvet sofas and walls covered with art deco details. My oh my!
Denton Delight
But you know what I love most about this trip? It wasn't just the shopping, the fabulous people, and the charming streets – it was the sheer joy of exploring somewhere new. For me, travel is about experiencing new cultures, embracing diversity, and, of course, bringing my pink tutus along for the ride! I want everyone to experience the pure joy of embracing themselves, regardless of who they are or where they come from, just like I embrace myself as Pink Tutu Sparkles!
As a performer, my passion is spreading glitter and positivity to every corner of the world, and that's exactly what I did in Denton. My show at the town hall was a real blast. Everyone in the audience embraced the vibrant spirit of drag and, for a couple of hours, we all escaped into a world filled with fun, laughter, and fabulous costumes. You know I wasn't shy about giving away pink tutus! By the end of the show, it felt like half the town hall was wearing one – truly a vision of fabulous!
You see, darling, my mission is simple – spread the magic of tutus and let everyone experience the freedom and self-expression they deserve. And let me tell you, Denton definitely caught the pink tutu fever. The show was a huge success, packed to the brim with locals and tourists alike who embraced the sparkle, the glitz, and the whole pink tutu vibe. I could barely keep up with the selfie requests!
