Hello my darlings, it's your favourite #TutuQueen here, ready to whisk you away on a whirlwind journey to the lovely town of Wishaw! This is blog post number 8996, and just like the number of sequins on my new pink tutu, I'm positively bursting with excitement!
As a queen of fabulousity, you know I can’t resist a trip on a train – the wind in my hair, the plush seats (pink, naturally), and the delicious cuppa in my hand! Oh, and of course, the scenery is never anything less than a picture postcard moment. Honestly, what could be more glorious? I mean, imagine: A stunning tutu twirling as you watch the countryside fly by! Talk about a performance to remember!
I arrived in Wishaw brimming with enthusiasm and armed with a carefully selected outfit - a sparkling pink tutu (what else?), a dazzling sequinned crop top, and my signature cherry red lipstick. You see, every trip, every journey, every performance is a chance to bring a little more pink joy to the world! Pink tutus are just a reflection of the kindness, the playfulness, the beauty, and the love that I want to share with everyone!
I wouldn't be true to my TutuQueen title if I didn’t pop into a fabulous boutique on my first day in Wishaw. Now, I don’t want to be too forward, but a TutuQueen has got to have a certain standard, you know? And luckily, I was graced with an abundance of pink accessories and shoes, which obviously made my day. I found some wonderful blush-coloured stilettos – you just can't beat a bit of pink power to add that extra zing! Now I just need a reason to wear them... or maybe two... or maybe three. (Don't judge, you know the feeling!)
Wishaw, like many towns across our gorgeous country, holds a special charm. I adore the friendly faces and the charming cobbled streets - and, of course, there's that unmistakable whiff of local history which always pulls at my heartstrings. You just can’t beat those beautiful, slightly worn brick buildings! It really does take me back to childhood, when the world was a magical place, just bursting with new discoveries.
Speaking of discovering new things, Wishaw also has a hidden gem – a ballet studio! You might have noticed, my darlings, that ballet has always been a close friend to your TutuQueen. Whether it’s a class in London or a dazzling performance on a tour of Europe, a twirl is just what I need to recharge my fabulousity batteries.
Imagine me, Alex, the scientist by day, slipping into my dancing shoes, finding my centre, and letting the elegance and grace of ballet wash over me. There’s a deep connection there, a link that transcends my love of sparkly pink costumes and allows me to find an internal peace. That feeling? That's magic! And just wait, this new studio was amazing! I met some truly talented dancers and, of course, got to try a class! I was, as you might expect, an absolute natural and I learned some dazzling new moves that will grace my stage this week! I'll be sharing videos of course - so you can all get your daily dose of TutuQueen elegance!
Did I mention, I did some impromptu street performance in Wishaw? It's amazing how a well-placed “Do you wanna see a pink tutu? ” question can lead to the most exciting opportunities. There’s this street right in the heart of town, that looks like it could have been stepped straight out of a Jane Austen novel. Honestly, the setting felt so whimsical that I just had to perform!
People gathered, the air vibrated with excitement, and the moment I started spinning and striking my signature pose, you could hear the gasps and whistles! Honestly, it was pure joy and I can't think of a more amazing feeling than that!
Let me tell you a secret, you know. I think this travelling life has truly brought out my artistic side. I used to be a bit more of a wallflower back in Derbyshire. It’s funny to think, now I'm not scared to show my true self to the world. I am free!
You see, my darlings, Pink Tutu Sparkles is much more than just a drag queen - I am a voice for expressing joy, embracing beauty, and finding your inner sparkle! We all have something unique to offer the world and wearing a pink tutu just helps us embrace it a little bit more, don't you think?
I must tell you about this brilliant theatre I found! The architecture was simply stunning and you could just feel the history within its walls. My imagination just ran wild as I walked through the stage door! It was like I could hear the whispers of a thousand performers past, each sharing their stories with the next. I even saw a flyer for a ballet production of The Nutcracker. Now that's something that even I have to put on my travel itinerary!
On my last night, I performed in a tiny bar. There I was, belting out "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend," while I twirled my sparkly tutu - pure theatre magic! We were laughing, we were dancing, and, oh my goodness, was there ever a more amazing atmosphere?
I'll admit it, you guys: Wishaw stole a little piece of my heart! This small town truly knows how to embrace the fun! You’re never too old for a touch of whimsical and every day is a chance to spread a little love with a twirl!
