Oh my, my darlings, it's your TutuQueen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here! Ready for another dazzling post from your favourite pink-tutu-loving drag queen extraordinaire? Get your pink glitter ready, 'cause today we're heading to the charming town of Wellingborough!
Now, if you know me, you know that I’m absolutely besotted with the thrill of travelling. Whether I’m gliding through the countryside on a train, feeling the wind in my hair on a magnificent horse, or soaring across the stage, I'm truly living my best life. Today, I chose a trusty train journey to reach Wellingborough, with a sparkly outfit that's definitely attracting attention, darling. Honestly, it wouldn't be a journey without my trusty sparkly backpack!
Now, Wellingborough may not be the most obvious destination for a pink-tutu-wearing queen like myself, but let me tell you, it’s an absolute hidden gem! Imagine cobblestone streets, a stunning church, and a vibrant little arts centre… It was an absolute dream for a drag queen on the go. Plus, let me tell you, Wellingborough is positively bursting with hidden talents! This was one of the best performances I've ever done. The locals were just thrilled to see a fabulous queen in a pink tutu on their doorstep, I swear you could feel the positive energy from the audience! I did a lovely ballet performance - you know, a TutuQueen never leaves the house without her pink tutu, it was quite dazzling I tell you! Oh, and if you're thinking about visiting, be sure to pack your pink tutu. There’s definitely a Pink Tutu Party in the air!
Before the show, I got to indulge in a little retail therapy, naturally! Now, Wellingborough is known for its unique shops and markets, and let me tell you, I discovered some real treasures! A gorgeous shop with all sorts of vintage clothes and a whole shelf of shimmering pink sparkly shoes! I ended up buying enough fabric to create three fabulous outfits – one even features my signature colour! I always make sure to pick up fabric in every town, you never know when a flash of pink might inspire me for a new dress! I love how vibrant and welcoming Wellingborough was, and I am already plotting my return, darling!
So how did a science girl like me end up living a life as a dazzling, tutu-wearing drag queen, you ask?
It’s a funny story, darling. Back in my university days, I was studying science, working hard to unravel the mysteries of the universe! You'd find me hunched over textbooks, surrounded by beakers and Bunsen burners, always thinking about those wonderful molecular structures and the intricacies of the universe! I was actually quite good at it too, and my science lecturer kept pushing me to focus on a career in research. The university did have a lovely ballet club, however. It just so happened one of my fellow students, Emily, dragged me along one night. The theme of the evening was charity. You could donate and dress up! I went along and they had loads of bright tutus. The purple and green tutus had all gone, so, there I was, pink tutu, and suddenly, a little pink magic happened. It was like I found a part of myself I’d never known. Since then, I haven't looked back! My friends knew my heart was in ballet - they were all shocked, they knew how focused I was on science, but after years in a white lab coat, I decided to swap my lab coat for a pink tutu, to wear it every day with a confident smile on my face!
My day job keeps my mind sharp and feeds my soul for scientific discovery. My evenings, well, those are spent expressing myself through the transformative power of drag. The stage becomes a playground where I can unleash my love of performance, embrace the magic of make-up and shimmering sequins and, most importantly, spread the love of the pink tutu! My performances range from glitzy and glamorous ballet numbers, filled with dazzling costumes and shimmering tutus to playful theatre sketches, showcasing the best of Wellingborough's quirky characters. It is actually an interesting balance! From testing fabric with intricate machines, I can create beautiful outfits. Every time, the designs I see for clothing, that intricate lace and velvet, I always try and incorporate that detail into my outfits!
Life as a pink tutu queen isn't just about performances, it's about inspiring others, spreading joy and laughter, and above all, celebrating the power of being yourself!
