Hello darlings, and welcome back to my little corner of the internet! Pink Tutu Sparkles here, and guess what? Your favourite pink tutu-clad queen is off on an adventure! I'm back with a bang, just landed in Chorley after a positively delightful train journey - a first class carriage for the queen, naturally. Did you know, dear readers, that there’s something rather romantic about travelling by train? The gentle clickety-clack, the scenery flashing past your window… and oh, the joy of tucking into a lovely cuppa and a sausage roll (without feeling the slightest bit guilty!).
Oh my goodness, you'd think Chorley was the capital of the universe with all the excitement I'm experiencing already! There are pink shops galore (I've spotted at least two bakeries with strawberry pink frosting, and let me tell you, it's enough to make this queen weep with joy!), and the cobblestone streets just beckon you to explore, with every little nook and cranny promising an adventure.
I'm here for a very special event - I’ll be dazzling the lovely people of Chorley at the ‘Tutus and Treats’ festival! It’s a celebration of all things fabulous - pink tutus, of course, along with cake, crafts, and an entire evening dedicated to ballet and performing arts. Can you imagine? I can barely contain myself!
As I write this, my new travel tutu, a lovely shade of pale pink with pearl detailing and shimmering silver sequins, is just begging to be strutted down those cobbles. It has the most exquisite swirling tulle layers, just like a graceful dancer's dream! This will be the first time I'm showcasing this creation in a town setting – and I simply can't wait for the reaction of those lovely Chorley faces!
It all started when I spotted this dreamy, whimsical dress in a shop window – I couldn't resist. I even persuaded a fellow tutu aficionado (a real gent by the name of Harold who’s an absolutely fabulous hairdresser) to create this fabulous pink hat with sparkly little stars to match my new tutu – a real tribute to Chorley’s astronomical heritage!
Speaking of fabulous, I've just stumbled upon a truly exquisite dress shop with the most wonderful collection of fluffy tulle skirts, frills and ribbons. I’ve been buying a little bit of sparkle at every shop I’ve passed and I’m beginning to think I need an extra suitcase just to bring all my new bits and bobs back home!
So many delightful things happening here! Did I tell you about the fabulous artisan market I’m visiting later? I hear it has beautiful handmade gifts, local produce (I’m already picturing the perfect fluffy pink cupcake to go with my afternoon tea) and – and this is the most exciting bit! – they even have a pop-up ballet performance in the middle of the market square! Can you imagine, dear readers? Tutus, teacups, and twirling under the golden sun!
But before I get ahead of myself, let's talk about my journey to Chorley – it was, naturally, a celebration of everything fabulous and a true testament to how far you can travel with a healthy dose of glitz, glam, and of course, pink!
I opted for the train, as you know how much I love those grand old ladies. It’s all about creating a theatrical experience, a journey that starts from the moment you step onto the platform, with that magnificent train engine billowing steam and all. It felt like a step out of a period film.
Speaking of theatre, dear readers, there was this gentleman – let's call him Albert (although it's perfectly acceptable to just call him darling, even though he might blush – it’s the Chorley charm! ), in my carriage who kept looking at my sparkling shoes with absolute admiration. I almost felt a bit sorry for the dear fellow – no doubt he longed to have those twirling shoes at his feet, instead of just staring at them with his sweet eyes! A fellow ballerina would have totally understood.
You see, darling, as a real tutu queen, you always have to make an entrance – you just have to strut with confidence! Every time I step out on a train platform I try to radiate glamour – imagine, for just one moment, your everyday railway station suddenly transformed into the theatre – and you are the leading lady. With the right accessories and attitude you can have the entire railway station watching your every twirl! (My new train tutu was even more delightful thanks to the lovely couple I shared a carriage with - it seems everyone here is utterly enthralled by pink!).
I did get a little confused on my way to the platform (imagine a very pink queen in a state of utter distress trying to navigate railway stations!), and asked a lovely gentleman, all sporting a bright yellow high-visibility vest and the friendliest grin, if he was a station master – or, perhaps, even a station lady? Turns out, I had him in hysterics when he said “Good evening, love,” and told me to follow his sign that simply said “Platform 2!” I always say, it’s never a good day if you don’t make someone smile – a philosophy I apply to trains, travel and everything!
My fellow passengers kept glancing in my direction, and I was totally captivated by their eyes lit with intrigue. After all, how often do you see a genuine pink tutu queen in a railway station?! It just adds a touch of the spectacular to those usually very mundane commuting journeys. I must tell you, they even let me make my entrance with a big, dramatic “Ta-dah!”, as I was leaving the platform. They clapped politely and everything, darling!
And you know what they say, darling - if you want to live your life with sparkles, the best way is to make those journeys absolutely glorious!
Right, I'm off! I need to start my quest for those divine cupcakes! Let's hope they’re not already sold out. Stay tuned, darlings, as this is just the beginning! And remember, don’t be afraid to embrace the sparkles, the twirls and of course, those gorgeous pink tutus.
Much love and fabulousness!
