As you all know, I'm a massive fan of the great British seaside, and this trip to Herne Bay has truly been a dream come true! From the moment I arrived, it felt like stepping into a fairytale.
The Journey to Herne Bay
Getting there was an adventure in itself, I decided to embrace my inner fairytale princess and take the train. Now, I've never been one for stuffy first-class compartments, I much prefer the excitement of the standard carriages! You see all sorts on the train: families heading off for a day at the beach, businessmen with their briefcases, and even the odd rogue dog! But let's be honest, nothing beats a good old-fashioned train journey for a spot of people-watching and dreaming up stories for my next blog.
Speaking of dreaming, my pink tutu felt particularly magical during the journey, and you can bet I wore my favourite crown to match! The sun was streaming through the window, the sea air was blowing through my hair, and all I could think was, "Pink Tutu Sparkles, you're a queen!"
A Seaside Daydream
Upon arriving in Herne Bay, the first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful pier! It was like a little slice of Victorian heaven, and you can't get more fabulous than a vintage pier, can you? It was a proper blast from the past. Imagine – seaside views, arcade games, sweet shops galore, and even a little brass band playing old classics!
As I strolled along the pier, I couldn't resist getting a picture in front of the colourful fairground rides. The vibrant colours and the nostalgic buzz were a total dream for any drag queen, but especially a pink tutu loving queen like myself!
The Bay and its Beauty
Of course, no trip to Herne Bay is complete without a dip in the sea! Now, I'm not exactly a water baby, but let's be honest – the combination of the sun, the sand, and a beautiful sea is unbeatable! I took a dip, splashed about a bit, then grabbed a bucket and spade for some creative beach art. A real masterpiece, darling, using shells and sand – pink Tutu Sparkles approves!
The Fashion of Herne Bay
Speaking of fashion, this town is definitely a trendsetter! From the vintage shops tucked away in side streets, to the seaside boutiques with all the latest trends, I found it truly inspirational. It was practically begging me to add some new pieces to my wardrobe.
I fell head over heels for a gorgeous pink scarf adorned with delicate sea shells! The shopkeeper swore it was a vintage piece, and I had to have it. This, my loves, is the kind of fashion that makes Pink Tutu Sparkles' heart sing!
An Evening of Entertainment
As the sun started to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange (you know I'm all about the pink!), I decided to take a look around town. There were a few quirky shops I’d missed earlier and let me tell you – it was a treasure trove! I ended up finding a vintage tutu that was practically calling my name – I'll just have to wait and see where I can show it off.
For dinner, I found a delightful little cafe right by the sea. It was filled with locals enjoying a classic fish and chips with a cuppa! You can't beat that kind of old-fashioned hospitality, my dears.
To top off my perfect Herne Bay evening, I even treated myself to a front-row seat at the local theatre! They were showing a modern take on a classic ballet. It was fabulous! It really got the glitter and twirls flowing. Maybe I should take up ballet? No, I think my love for tutus is more suited for stage performances...and definitely for blogging!
