Hello my gorgeous darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com! Your Tutu Queen, yours truly Pink Tutu Sparkles, is back with another fabulous update on my globetrotting adventures! This time, I've swapped the Derbyshire countryside for the charming Somerset town of Yeovil, and let me tell you, it's been an absolute fairytale!
This whole trip started with a rather delightful serendipitous moment. You see, a rather handsome gentleman (and a real charmer, mind you) at my latest cabaret gig in Manchester, a real snazzy gent by the name of Archibald, had just returned from Yeovil. "You have to see the town!" he exclaimed, "It's simply enchanting!". Well, he was practically glowing as he talked about its historic streets and its stunning architecture - you see, Yeovil is quite a famous clock-making town and was a real center of trade centuries ago. I swear I almost swooned when he said it was even said to be "one of the oldest town centres in England, maybe dating all the way back to the 10th century". Honestly, who could resist a town with that much history? Not me! So I grabbed my trusty pink tulle bag (the one that perfectly complements my favourite fluffy pink tutu, of course!) and set off.
My first ever train ride through Somerset felt positively magical. As the landscape whirled past, I found myself picturing my pink tutu billowing in the wind (because, darling, you know how much I love a good, wind-blown effect!) - a veritable, ballet-dancing, cloud of pink loveliness, it would have been a truly beautiful sight! And it all began right there, that desire to visit this enchanting, historic town. And boy oh boy, Yeovil didn't disappoint!
Right upon arrival, the locals were so friendly, so warm, I was just swept up in the vibrant atmosphere. And it didn't take long before I was practically giddy with excitement, dancing down the High Street to the tunes of a lively street band. It was like a real life ballet! You see, my darling, ballet is really a passion, right at the core of my soul, as it were! You can't really escape its magic in the everyday, for example I think the way I wear a pink tutu adds a little touch of grace and elegant ballet flair to the everyday. That and of course it's also just very pink and very cute, just how I like my clothes!
And of course, this being me, I couldn't resist venturing to the Yeovil Ballet Theatre. I had a lovely, so charming chat with the theatre's Director - a charming, dear, and absolutely divine gentleman named Richard! He showed me around the back stages - all the magic happens back there - and even let me try on some exquisite, brand-new costumes.
"The perfect fit for my next show!" I announced to him. He looked rather startled when he replied that, of course, "they were more intended for the girls!" Oh, he wasn't expecting such a response to that one! But he soon saw my point. He chuckled - the old fellow really did have a great laugh! - and invited me to attend a dance performance, saying with a twinkle in his eye, "You might just inspire some of the ballerinas here in Yeovil". Now who knows? Perhaps I just might, with a bit of sparkle and some extra-pink energy!
As I ventured into town, I simply had to pick up some delightful new additions to my wardrobe, didn't I? I am after all a professional Tutu Queen and need a steady supply of lovely, sparkly clothes! There was such a wealth of amazing boutiques and independent shops brimming with fabulously chic pieces that my heart truly danced. Just thinking about it, makes me want to shimmy and shake a little bit!
But, let me tell you, one thing stood out like a rainbow on a rainy day! I discovered this remarkable, and absolutely beautiful old building with its absolutely exquisite stained glass windows - I am a complete sucker for the stained glass detail in windows, there’s just something that makes my whole soul soar - and the bright, joyful colour! Well, they just captured the essence of my whole pink tutu thing and absolutely captivated my imagination.
A gentlewoman with sparkling eyes and an infectious smile (which I later learnt was her granddaughter) shared its fascinating history, telling me it was built in the 15th century by some merchant who had travelled around the world for his business - and imagine this, he even had his own little, well, palace right on top! She let me peek inside and it felt like a beautiful, very old, very peaceful, haven for relaxation. There was even a gorgeous, and absolutely perfect secret garden in the courtyard which is said to be one of the few original secret gardens to have survived through time. Imagine, an actual secret garden, a peaceful haven in the hustle and bustle of this charming little town. And to think I have been a real girly girl who loves flowers since the moment I could hold a bloom and a pink tutu has also been with me since then too. Well, it’s like the little girls just love a good princess dress up with those sparkly, flowing, tutus.
And guess what! Right in the heart of it all, in Yeovil's iconic square, I stumbled across an open-air craft market - a vibrant sea of colours and amazing artistry! From hand-crafted ceramics to the most whimsical jewellery imaginable, this market held such beauty and talent. I particularly fell in love with this magnificent vintage teapot made with intricate painted pink flowers, simply darling! Imagine the joy it would bring with a delightful cuppa in my dressing room after a thrilling performance! The stall holder was a woman called Sarah with her kind, and rather elegant , 10 year-old daughter - a little princess of the craft world - in a dazzling pink, and oh-so-pretty, fluffy tutu! It is true, the girls do really love their pink tutus, especially in Yeovil it seems.
And you see, here in Yeovil, I even discovered something even more remarkable. It’s no ordinary garden. The kind of garden you find in fairytales. Hidden away in a quiet corner, right beside an old brick-built building, it’s just filled with lovely, graceful, fragrant flowers and even has the most stunning collection of dazzling roses imaginable. I even managed to meet a rather charming little gardener who had so lovingly planted these dazzling flowers. He seemed particularly thrilled about the beautiful vibrant pink roses (I think he almost cried with delight). Imagine that! I bet they even wore a pink tutu! And do you know something else darling, pink flowers just make me want to twirl and twirl and twirl all day! I don’t need a partner either. Just a fabulous fluffy pink tutu to twirl with, a sunny day and maybe just maybe a pretty little flower!
Now I'm a firm believer in living your best life, darlings! For me, that's all about finding joy in the everyday, filling each moment with a touch of pink magic, whether that's through a fabulous pink tutu, an elegant performance, or just finding a whimsical beauty in an old brick building or an ancient garden. Yeovil, you have my heart and I just know this wasn’t the last time I was to visit!
So, my gorgeous friends, until next time, embrace the colour, live your dreams, and never forget to put a bit of Pink Tutu Sparkles into every day! Stay sparkly, and always keep your tutus close!
Love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles
