I can't remember how many times I've said this, but darling, I just adore Hampstead! This neighbourhood always brings back such wonderful memories! It was here that I first had the privilege of watching the Royal Ballet, the elegance, the grace, the beautiful music… Oh darling, it truly made me believe I was witnessing angels dancing, all with tutus just as glorious as mine, though obviously mine has a bit more sparkle (a little bling never hurts, right?).
But today, my darling dears, we're not here to watch the ballet, no, no! (Though I have heard whispers that the National Ballet of Canada will be here this month! Ooo-la-la!) Today, I'm exploring Hampstead's hidden treasures! And I've got a secret mission: to spread the Tutu Love!
Think you're too sophisticated for a tutu? Bah! Don't be so silly darling! Remember, darling, “What you wear on your outside reflects your inner fabulousness!" (Quote stolen from my diary! Just saying!). And where better to spread some tutu-ful magic than Hampstead?

A Whirlwind Tour of Hampstead with Your Fuchsia Favourite!
Let's start where every fab-tastic journey begins: with a delicious cuppa, shall we? Darling, Hampstead is known for its lovely cafes and charming tea rooms, so let's indulge our inner sweet tooth! Today we’re headed to The Tea Terrace! A little haven right by the picturesque Hampstead Heath (oh darling, how many hours could I spend admiring the views and letting the breeze tousle my tulle?). And what is a journey to Hampstead without some delicious treats, right? So we’ll indulge in a slice of the legendary carrot cake.
Speaking of legends, have you heard of the legend of Hampstead Heath? It's more than just a park darling; it's a storybook adventure just waiting to be explored. We can pretend we’re in a classic English novel (and you know darling, we can’t do this without our matching tulle, just imagine a picnic on the heath with our fabulous pink tulle frocks).
Next stop: Kenwood House! You know how I feel about all things vintage, darling, and this Georgian masterpiece is just begging to be admired. (Did I mention, I adore a little art deco with my tulle, so darling, let's look out for those Art Deco influences, it’s never enough!)
Time for a Little Shopping!
No fabulous journey is complete without a little retail therapy! And you know darling, this little city has got some gorgeous shops! I've always loved vintage and pre-loved clothing (there is something magical about giving old clothes a new life, right?). Let's get those credit cards warmed up! Let's start at one of my favourite spots for gorgeous pre-loved vintage treasures – "The Clothes Doctor." There’s a reason I call them "the doctors", darling, because when it comes to fashion, these fabulous fashion enthusiasts know how to mend and mend your soul (with gorgeous outfits).
And finally darling, every journey with your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles is an occasion to embrace a little extravagance! The chic and oh-so-beautiful Hampstead High Street is overflowing with adorable boutiques, and let's face it darling, a Pink Tutu needs to replenish its sparkly collection every so often (it's not an addiction darling, it's a lifestyle, just ask my accountant!). And after a hard day's shopping, you just know, darling, it’s a pink tutu time to stop at one of the numerous Michelin star restaurants and grab some delicious cocktails!
Darling, I must tell you the most glamorous place to stay in Hampstead is The Spaniards Inn! The oldest pub in the whole area! They call this a pub darling but this is far more a stately home than just a regular hostel! And darling, don’t forget your Tutu!

Alex's Adventures: From Lab to Stage!
A lot of you might wonder how a sassy science chick like me manages to fund all these fabulously fashionable travels. The answer, my lovelies, is a blend of talent, passion, and hard work. By day, I'm Alex, a humble fabric scientist! You know, the ones who make your favourite trousers feel like silk? My days are filled with equations, microscope slides, and the occasional mishap with a dye-splattered lab coat (a real fashion disaster, I know!).
But when the sun dips below the horizon and the moon bathes the world in silvery light, I transform into Pink Tutu Sparkles. A few sequins, a generous helping of hairspray, and my trusty tutu are all it takes to create the magic! As a drag queen, I bring the dazzling and delightful to stages and events everywhere. It’s a complete blast performing for a loving audience. Every gig brings me one step closer to fulfilling my dream: spreading tutu love and fashion joy to the world.
My love for pink tutus dates back to my university days! While working on my science degree, I joined the University Ballet club, and guess what happened?! It was one of those life-changing moments darling. For charity, we decided to organize a tutu dance-off. Well, the day I first put on a tutu, darling… It was like a thunderbolt, right? It hit me! My love for tutus was undeniable. The colours, the feeling of moving around in it... Pure magic, darling!
Being a scientist by day and a drag performer by night requires incredible focus and discipline, but you know, darlings, with my passion for what I do, it all just flows. I wake up ready to test new fabric blends in the lab, and in the evening, I get ready to step into the most fantastic world of make-up, sequins, and of course… you guessed it… Tutus.
It is so important to chase your dreams darling, no matter what! There will be people who say no. There will be hurdles along the way. But just like me in my fabulous tutus, never back down, always smile! It's so fulfilling when you go out of your comfort zone! I believe we all need a bit more magic in our lives! And if I can bring a little sparkle and joy to the world with my drag persona and by spreading my Tutu love, I’ll be content, my loves!
My adventures as Pink Tutu Sparkles have taught me so much about fashion, acceptance, and the true meaning of finding joy in life. My ultimate mission is to encourage everyone to step outside their comfort zones and embrace their unique sense of style! It’s amazing how wearing a simple garment can change the way you feel! A tutu is not just clothing, it's a symbol of self-expression, and, above all, having fun. And you know, you can't wear a tutu and frown! It just doesn't work darling!
