Hello darlings, and welcome back to Pink-Tutu.com, where it's always a sprinkle of sparkle and a dash of pink! Your Tutu Queen is back with a new blog post, this time straight from the charming streets of Small Heath!
Today, darlings, I'm all about exploring, because let's face it, there's no adventure quite like discovering new places and spreading the love of pink tutus, right? This journey was especially thrilling, as I got to make the journey by train! Oh, the joys of first-class carriages, plush seating, and gazing at the rolling countryside as the world rushes past the windows... pure bliss!
But first, a little confession: you see, this gal has got a little secret - I have a rather strange love for trains! Don't get me wrong, I'm not a trainspotter, darling, (though, I can appreciate a lovely steam engine!). But the idea of traveling at a steady pace, watching the scenery blur past and taking in all the stories that those quiet, compartmentalized worlds offer - that truly brings a magical touch to my soul!
Speaking of magic, Small Heath truly was a breath of fresh air. From the quaint streets lined with traditional shops, the aroma of curry in the air, and a feeling of community - it was just like stepping back in time. I particularly loved the buzzing market - there were stalls laden with colourful fabrics and beautiful handmade crafts, not to mention the delectable aromas of all the delicious street food. And, of course, I had to pick up a few souvenirs, for Pink Tutu Sparkles can't resist a bit of glitz and glamour, wherever I may be.
The highlight of my visit, though, was definitely the community center I performed at. It was packed with friendly faces, each more enthusiastic than the last! I put on a dazzling show (can’t help it, it's a Tutu Queen thing, darling!), showcasing some brand-new moves I’ve been practicing and, of course, I was shimmering in a brand-new pink tutu! You see, this trip was particularly special as I managed to unearth a small local craft market during the day, with the most gorgeous fabric stall! Imagine, my lovelies, hand-stitched silk and taffeta, each a unique creation in shades of pink so exquisite! You better believe that this Pink Tutu Queen nabbed the most exquisite piece for a new creation for my upcoming performance in Worcester!
But that's not all! During my adventures, I got to have a real giggle - you know those quirky tourist shops that are so popular in these historic districts? I walked into one and came face-to-face with a shop window full of …ballet tutus! Well, darlings, needless to say, the urge to go in was overwhelming.
Can you imagine it, this little shop, tucked away in a quaint little lane, stocked with all kinds of costumes - from Shakespearean tights to fairytale princess dresses. The moment I spotted them, it was like destiny whispered in my ear - Pink Tutu Sparkles was in her element! And yes, my lovely friends, I treated myself to a brand new, frilly pink tutu – a beautiful ballet-style one this time, complete with a gorgeous cascade of fluffy tulle that simply begs to be twirled!
Don’t worry, darlings, I'm planning to showcase my new Tutu treasure in one of my upcoming performances, I'll be sure to post pictures on my website, just you wait!
Of course, no journey to a new place is complete without experiencing some delightful local fare. Now, I can’t go into Small Heath without trying out the scrumptious curry houses! There are restaurants on every corner! Each had enticing aromas that made my stomach rumble - the spices, the heat, the delicate blend of flavours… oh my goodness, I’m in food heaven! It reminded me of a lovely time I had, travelling on a horse-drawn carriage, up into the peaks of Derbyshire, years ago! A proper day out with mum and dad, after a fantastic family-themed "Dress as your favourite Superhero” fancy dress theatre performance, and followed by a grand meal at the nearby country pub.
Small Heath, in so many ways, took me right back to my roots - that beautiful county I call home. A sense of family, history, and a vibrant heart that pulsed through every street corner… a truly captivating place.
Speaking of history, you know me, my lovelies, and my passion for historical costumes… a special occasion recently inspired my new love for "ballet" inspired outfits. This month I have been booked to attend a special performance in one of the stately homes of Britain – imagine! Such intricate detail and the opulence of centuries-old traditions! I was inspired by the outfits the actors were wearing! So I designed a new piece – a bright pink and white tutu, complete with ruffles, velvet sashes, and intricate lace trim! Can’t wait to show it off in my next performance at a Victorian-themed garden party, where the Queen will be in attendance!
