Hey darlings! It's your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, and today I'm writing to you from the gorgeous town of Walkden! You know how much I love a good train journey, and this trip was no exception. ? I felt like a proper, posh pink princess being whisked away on a scenic adventure, clutching my latest collection of twirly pink tutu accessories - a little pink tiara with sparkly cherries, and a set of sparkling pink butterfly wings that are going to really amp up my stage act this weekend. ?
This is blog post number 9742 for Pink Tutu Sparkles! And for those of you new here, I'm Alex, your average everyday Derbyshire-born science lab technician, by day. By night, I transform into my alter ego, a queen of sparkles, fluff and pink galore! ??
I guess it all started at uni, right? The ballet club, a charity fundraiser, and one magical moment when I tried on a tutu... Needless to say, that one experience totally changed my life! My love for science hasn't diminished, but neither has my love for the magic of a tutu and the feeling of freedom when you twirl in one! ✨
So, why am I in Walkden, you ask? Well, darling, it's all about the performing, of course! It's been ages since I was last in the North, and it's always a joy to be back, bringing the magic of Pink Tutu Sparkles to a whole new audience! I'm thrilled to be performing at the lovely Walkden Fair this weekend, a real gem of an event celebrating the arts and community. Think handmade crafts, live music, local food delights - and, of course, yours truly! ?
Walkden’s Fairytale Vibes
Walkden is just the most delightful place. I can already tell! The atmosphere is buzzing with positive vibes and that genuine warmth that only a Northern town can offer. This fair is the real deal - no giant corporations here, just pure local talent, community spirit and tons of handcrafted goodness.
One of my favourite things about travelling is discovering new places, getting to experience local cultures, and maybe picking up a little inspiration for my next costume! I was in a delightful shop earlier, The Crafter's Corner, where I met the most lovely lady who showed me how to make this amazing hand-painted jewellery with miniature ballet slippers on them! It’s officially my new thing and the most perfect accessory to match my ballet outfit, which I will wear to a performance this Saturday! ?
This town even has a real connection to the theatre! It turns out there's a local group, the Walkden Players, that's been putting on shows for decades! I'm already planning a visit to their next performance, which they kindly offered me a free ticket to! This feels like fate, darling! How lovely to connect with such a wonderful, supportive theatre group - the local arts scene here is thriving! ✨
Speaking of theatre, you guys know I absolutely LOVE the theatre! From ballets and operas to musicals and even the odd panto, it all sparks my imagination. The Walkden Players are putting on a new production of "The Sound of Music" later this month and you bet your sparkly boots I'm going to be in the audience! You know I adore all those wonderful tunes and those sweet, iconic costumes, and seeing it brought to life on stage in Walkden just feels extra special!
And the ballet scene here is incredible! I met a delightful lady, Millie, at the Fair earlier who is a ballet teacher at the local Walkden Academy of Dance. I was telling her all about my ballet journey, and she was just so encouraging. She's even inviting me to join a class! Now I'm debating whether to don my own pink tutu and sparkle amongst the local talent or stick to observing. ? Either way, I’m completely smitten with Walkden's lively ballet scene and have already earmarked their next production of Swan Lake for my diary!
Getting Around Walkden Like a True Princess
And if you haven't already guessed, my favorite way to get around any new place? On horseback, of course! ? I was absolutely ecstatic to discover the local Walkden Riding Stables and took my first lesson this afternoon! Riding with the wind in your hair, the feeling of freedom under the open sky - there's really nothing quite like it! It also reminded me just how gracefully ballerinas can move, especially those with great strength and elegance.
Let's be honest, getting around on a horse in a pink tutu does turn heads. It’s the perfect way to get a quick tour of the charming town and a fantastic opportunity for people to interact and take a picture. They’ve become my impromptu photoshoot crew! And for any passers-by, my advice is to “Embrace the tutu, darling! It's more fun than a box of chocolate!” ?
Spreading the Tutu-Love!
I have to say, it's incredible to be back in the North and feel that genuine northern charm. Everyone here is so friendly, and the spirit of this place really reminds me of why I love doing what I do. Sharing joy, spreading the love, and, most importantly, inspiring people to unleash their inner Pink Tutu Sparkle!
Don't worry, I'm not going to stop until everyone, everywhere has embraced the tutu! I know, I know, I'm absolutely mad for pink tutus! But think about it, darling, a pink tutu is so much more than just a garment; it’s an emblem of joy, freedom, and pure happiness!
I think it's safe to say this weekend is going to be spectacular! It’s all about the show at the fair, connecting with the local community and giving them a taste of the magical Pink Tutu Sparkle universe! ?
