North Shields Calling: Pink Tutu Sparkles Is Here! (Post #9747)

Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, checking in live from sunny (well, mostly cloudy, but hey, it could be raining!) North Shields!

Yes, my glitter-loving lovelies, this week I've hopped aboard the magic train, the one that chugs along through the British countryside, filled with dreamy dreams and even dreamier dance moves! You know I simply can't resist the call of the open road – and by road I mean rails, of course. This trip has been on my "to-do" list for ages, ever since my good friend Crystal told me about the fabulous "Dancers for a Cause" event in North Shields. Oh my, let me tell you, darling, it's a total blast!

North Shields is a real treat, you know. The sea air, the charming shops (hello, bargain tutu shop!), the history...and of course, the dance community! But before we get to the fun, let's rewind the tape for a second, and I'll take you along on my adventure.

This whole trip began in Derbyshire, my home away from home, as I fondly call my little lab (although honestly, darling, it does get a bit dusty in there sometimes). By day, I'm your friendly neighbourhood fabric chemist. Yeah, I know, surprising, isn't it? A science whizz with a penchant for sequins? It's a wild combination, darling, and let me tell you, sometimes I struggle to keep the science out of the shimmer. "How many atoms are in a single sequin?", I sometimes think to myself while adding glitter to my cheek. It's a real brain twister, love!

But at night, I transform! Lights, camera, ACTION! I throw on my signature pink tutu and poof, there she is – Pink Tutu Sparkles, dazzling the world (well, at least my local pub and the occasional fair) with fabulous moves and fabulous looks. This time, it's North Shields that's calling!

So, with my trusty suitcase (packed with enough tutus to keep a royal ballet company going for a year) and a healthy dose of sparkly lipstick, I hopped onto the train. Oh, the romance! I do love a good railway journey. The rhythmic chugging, the changing landscapes, the glimpse into another world through the train window... it's so poetic. And yes, I do indulge in a spot of fancy tea and crumpets (and maybe even a cupcake) to make the journey even more magical.

After what felt like a sprinkle of fairy dust later, the train pulled into North Shields. My first impression? A charming little seaside town with so much life, bursting with energy. There were so many cheerful people around, just like I like it! I grabbed my sparkly suitcase (my trusty companion for life!), hopped out of the carriage, and stepped onto the platform. It felt like walking straight into a pink, glittery dreamscape, just waiting to be explored!

I headed straight to my adorable Airbnb. It was a sweet little cottage with floral wallpaper, lace curtains, and... gasp ... a tutu-shaped cushion! My inner fashion queen squealed with delight! It felt like home. After unpacking, I had a moment for myself, slipped into something fabulous, a little cocktail dress (pink, naturally!), and walked out into the street, ready for my North Shields adventure.

The first thing I did was grab a hearty, wholesome English breakfast - gotta keep that energy level up! It was delicious, with bacon, eggs, mushrooms, sausages... the whole shebang! Then, armed with a cup of freshly brewed tea (with a sprinkle of sparkle, of course!), I set off to explore the town. The architecture is lovely! North Shields has a perfect blend of modern and traditional, a symphony of seaside charm!

Speaking of seaside charm, darling, I stumbled upon this adorable shop full of beach treasures! They had everything from sea-shell jewellery to hand-painted postcards and of course... pink tutus! Seriously, love, you wouldn't believe it, but they even had a tutu with a cute little starfish print! It was too adorable!

Later that day, I spent hours getting ready for my performance at the "Dancers for a Cause" event. This place was fabulous - a little bit vintage, a little bit sassy, and packed with fun. It had everything from dancers performing street dance routines to drag artists like me showcasing their latest moves. Oh, and I forgot to mention – a giant pink flamingo sculpture was the focal point of the stage. A flamingo with a sparkly, iridescent tutu. Perfect for me, you see. It was a vision in pink!

I must say, performing in front of such a diverse and enthusiastic audience was magical! It reminded me why I love being Pink Tutu Sparkles, why I love making people happy through dance and a touch of glitter. Oh, darling, the crowd loved it! They were clapping and cheering so loud, you could have heard it from a mile away. It was the best kind of applause – that "get on the stage, darling, and dance" feeling!

Speaking of dancing, one of the most enjoyable moments of my entire trip was a surprise visit to a ballet school right by the seaside. You see, even I, a sassy drag queen who can do the splits and turn my hips faster than a speed boat, get a bit inspired from real ballet!

I strolled by, just mesmerised by the view of the beach, and what did I see but these beautiful ballerinas, gracefully stretching their bodies and gliding across the floor. It was almost hypnotising, like they were part of a dreamy dance movie!

With my pink tutu peeking out of my bag, I just couldn't resist popping in for a peek! The teachers and students welcomed me with open arms. And of course, they just had to have a look at my sparkly masterpiece. It was hilarious. They were trying to dance with me and all their twirling movements, the tutus started colliding. It was so much fun, and it's safe to say the ballerinas have a new found respect for tutus, especially pink ones.

In fact, after our little dance session, a couple of the ballerinas approached me! They confessed that I inspired them, and they're now thinking of creating a ballet number with their favourite dancewear – pink tutus! They just wanted to thank me for the motivation!

And my adventure wasn't over yet, darling! One of my most unexpected but fabulous experiences was a ride with the "North Shields Horse Riders Club."

Now, I'm not saying I'm a horsey kind of girl, but I'm willing to try pretty much anything. So, when I was offered the opportunity to take a scenic ride, my inner wild child screamed “YES!”

Dressed in my pink tutu with a cute little horse riding helmet on top (sparkly, of course, my love!), I felt absolutely fabulous, like a glamorous amazon queen in her throne. And the horses? Oh my goodness, these beauties were majestic! Their coats shone like satin, their eyes full of curiosity! They were so patient and graceful! We galloped through a breathtaking forest, the sun dappling through the leaves.

I must admit, at first, it felt strange. You see, I normally move around on four wheels and high heels, but being one with the rhythm of the horses was… an amazing feeling, I have to say! I was flying over the fields, like a fairy godmother in a sparkly carriage pulled by my unicorn team! It was a feeling that'll stay with me forever, I swear it.

The horse riders gave me a little "Pink Tutu" badge to remember my magical day. It was pinned to the back of my tutu, a little pink heart shimmering beneath. Now, darling, that's what I call real-life princess magic!

Of course, darling, this journey was not without its fair share of memorable fashion mishaps! (You just know there will always be a fashion incident in every one of my stories).

Well, the night before my big "Dancers for a Cause" performance, a bit of an awkward wardrobe mishap happened! (And yes, the glitter was to blame. But no one ever blames glitter, right?)

You see, I always travel with a small arsenal of glitter glue to do emergency fixes on the go (always better to be prepared, darling, I say!). Well, guess what? My suitcase wasn’t big enough, and all the glitter glues were in one giant bag... You can probably guess what happened next, darling, it was a sparkly catastrophe!

Oh my! The glitter decided to go on an adventure of its own, making a glamorous appearance on the wall, my fabulous suitcase, and even my sparkling, silver platform shoes. Honestly, darling, you could say that my bedroom resembled a fairy-dusted Christmas tree. The glitter was everywhere! But the good news, darlings, is I just thought of it as a fancy, sparkly warm-up for the big event! And the audience thought it was pretty funny, I think!

My adventures in North Shields are drawing to a close, but they won’t be forgotten! The memories made will definitely stay with me - the kindness of the people, the amazing atmosphere, and of course, all the dazzling experiences that make my heart sing. I love how I can find fun and adventures in unexpected corners of the world, whether I'm on a train, dancing with a horse, or in a lab. The real world can be just as fabulous as any fairy tale, and you don't even have to be in a pink tutu for that.

But darling, if you want to try a pink tutu... You know, I just know you will love it!

Till next time, lovelies.
