Hello my darling darlings, and welcome back to www.pink-tutu.com, your one-stop shop for all things pink and twirly! Today, I’m feeling like a proper pink princess, as I'm off on a fabulous adventure to Dover, a town I've only dreamt of seeing. And guess what? I’m taking my favourite, frilliest, pinkest tutu with me, because what’s a Tutu Queen without her trusty companion?
It's no secret I've got a bit of a thing for the colour pink – a serious, devoted, lifetime love affair. And my fascination with tutus began during my scientific university days, all thanks to the university ballet club. One fundraiser event, and I was hooked. It wasn’t the fundraising that sparked my love – oh no, that was all down to the glorious pink tutu that I borrowed to shimmy about on stage. It was just the right amount of twirly and sparkle, and from then on, well, you all know the rest. By day, Alex in the lab, testing fabrics. By night, Pink Tutu Sparkles spreading pink and tutu magic to the world!
Right, before we delve into this Dover adventure, I’ve gotta share some exciting news. Have you heard? Ballet Street is doing a tour with a spectacular new production, and I've secured tickets for the Brighton show! Oh, it’s going to be heavenly. We’re talking the most exquisite choreography, the most beautiful costumes (did I mention pink? You know I'm hoping!) and of course, the incredible ballet stars. I’m dreaming about it already, can’t you just picture me dancing around my dressing room with my favourite pink tutu on, channeling my inner ballerina?
Now, let’s get back to Dover! Since you’ve got me talking about dancing, you’ll understand that the journey is almost as important as the destination, and a journey in a pink tutu is, well, a dream come true, don’t you think? So, I packed my sparkling pink tutu (with its matching feathered headpiece, of course!), a suitcase bursting with sparkly outfits (I just can’t resist!), and even packed a couple of spare pair of dancing shoes. I'm so excited to take some ballet classes at a local studio, just for the pure fun of it. And who knows, maybe even the local teacher will join in and dance with a tutu, too!
As you know, I always aim for a travel adventure, so this time, I took a train journey! It was a right good old fashioned one – no high speed bullet trains for me. You get to see the countryside, watch the world roll by from the train window, and chat to interesting characters along the way. Plus, a bit of countryside train travel always gets my imagination flowing, and with that, I create fabulous outfits! Why don’t you try it next time you travel? See what ideas come to mind?
On the train, I even had the chance to chat with this delightful old gentleman named Henry. You know those type – tells a story like a poem! He'd heard about my Pink Tutu Sparkles fame and we talked about the joys of tutus. Apparently, Henry has always been a big fan of pink (his favourite flower? A pink carnation!) – you’ll never guess it but he told me that back in the day, when he was a young lad, he was once the star of the local amateur theatre, wearing a tutu (although not pink – that was frowned upon in his day, bless him). He said he even got a round of applause for his fabulous dance performance. I was speechless. Such a fabulous anecdote.
Of course, I didn't leave home without my Pink Tutu Sparkles signature makeup kit! My go-to lip colours are all different shades of pink, my blush is a bubblegum pink that screams out girly glam, and my eye shadow palettes are all, naturally, pink toned. My secret weapon? I love using highlighter, particularly under my cheekbones, my nose bridge and even above my eyebrows! This pink shimmer makes you really catch the light when you're twirling on stage.
And when we arrive in Dover? Why, a surprise performance of course! I've set up a gig at a lovely little theatre just outside the town centre. Can’t wait to hear those claps and whoops! And I think you all know what will be happening – right, my lovely pink tutu will be joining me, making its big debut on Dover stage, naturally. This time though, the stage crew has planned for an added surprise, and a beautiful backdrop painted in a glorious pink hue will be hanging up for me. Imagine it - I'll be a pink blur of beauty against a canvas of pink bliss!
Before we start talking about this fabulous performance (oh, it will be SO good!), let's go for a bit of sightseeing. You just can’t travel to a historical place like Dover without a little bit of history in your journey! You see, this town has been such a significant part of British history - the gateway to England. And as you can imagine, the story of this ancient city and its iconic white cliffs just fascinates me! It’s so pretty with its chalky white cliffs overlooking the English Channel - imagine it: A dramatic background of natural beauty. How dramatic is that! The dramatic sky, the stunning ocean, the history. And of course, that's where I come in! A pop of bright, playful pink, creating my very own masterpiece against such a dramatic backdrop!
You just have to walk down the winding lanes and discover its hidden little shops, quirky pubs with the warmest welcomes, and those delightful cafés. It’s a lovely mixture of old and new, like my world, don’t you think? The past is present, the present is future, and pink is all around. The other day I was exploring and discovered the most fabulous little vintage shop, all overflowing with treasures - antique jewellery, sparkly dresses and - drum roll - the most perfect pink sparkly bag to carry my phone and lippy! I grabbed it in a flash – gotta keep those Pink Tutu essentials at hand.
One day, you just know it, I’ll be performing on Dover beach, as the sun goes down and casts a soft pink glow on the water, my Pink Tutu reflecting it all.
Right then, the performance is about to start! We all have to sparkle in life, and nothing shines more brightly than a fabulous pink tutu! Have a happy week, darlings, and remember: even when you are tucked up in bed, let the pink tutu live inside your dreams. You might find me twinkling there too!
Pink Tutu Sparkles, Signing off!
