Now, for the discerning fashionista, a visit to Deal means one thing: shopping! Let's be real, every girl loves a bit of retail therapy, and Deal didn't disappoint. It's like stepping back in time, with independent boutiques spilling onto cobblestone streets. Think vintage treasures, handcrafted jewellery, and local art that would make your Instagram followers drool. It was like a dream come true for a girl like me. And of course, I had to find a little something pink. I mean, come on, a trip to Deal without some pink in my wardrobe? It's practically illegal. I snagged a fabulously feathered hat in the most vibrant fuchsia. It was like the heavens had opened and sent it straight into my shopping bag.
But Deal is more than just charming shops and colourful boutiques. It's got that charming seaside vibe that makes your heart sing. I even popped on my fanciest tutu (and it took some serious thought, because darling, the wardrobe is bursting with glitter at the moment!), took a stroll along the shingle beach and had a cup of tea while watching the sunset over the English Channel. Pure, blissful happiness, I tell you!
You know me, always searching for a story to weave. So, imagine this, while enjoying my tea, I hear some familiar tunes floating through the air. It was a string quartet playing some classic tunes - think Tchaikovsky and Brahms! They were playing by a magnificent Elizabethan mansion called Walmer Castle, which was, get this, the former residence of the Duke of Wellington, the most famous General of all time. And darling, they looked like they had stepped right out of a vintage postcard, so naturally, I had to insist on a little photo op, me with the mansion, and them playing, all in pink tutu. Well, everyone's got to try, right?
You might think, a queen of pink tutus on a beach? What a strange combination! But that’s the magic of Deal! It's a place that embraces the quirky and the unexpected. I felt so at home! Speaking of magic, remember the story of The White Cliffs of Dover? It all started here! Dover was the centre of Britain's naval strength throughout history. This charming seaside town truly was, well, enchanting! Oh, Deal! How can I make this about me again?

Speaking of travel, ever thought of swapping planes for trains? Well, I love train journeys. They're a glamorous way to travel and the chance to really see the English countryside, especially if you can catch a view from the window and have some tea on the way. Plus, who doesn't love the romantic whistle of a train chugging along its tracks? My favourite thing is taking the steam train across the beautiful landscape! You’ll be surprised what you can spot with the right window seat!
Speaking of spots, darling, Deal was absolutely buzzing with events. You want markets? They’ve got 'em. You want parades? Oh, honey, it's a festival explosion! It's no wonder Deal is known as "the capital of the English coast"! And guess what, there's always an excuse to wear a pink tutu, even in the UK, especially if it's an open air performance and you want everyone to know who's the real star, right? Even the locals know I was wearing that tutu and felt confident in my little ensemble. I even wore it on the beach, it just made sense, you can’t see me in black and white with all the bright sunshine!
