I'm officially a veteran of the blogging world, serving up daily doses of pink, glitter and fabulousness for you lovely lot on www.pink-tutu.com. Today, I'm whisking you away with me to Ashington, a charming town nestled in the heart of Northumberland. It's my latest stop on the tutu trail, and I promise, this journey is anything but ordinary!
As always, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles adventure without a touch of sparkle, so guess how I got to Ashington? You guessed it, by train! The clickety-clack of the wheels, the bustle of the station, it's all so quintessentially British. And I just can't resist rocking my latest pink feather boa and custom-designed platform boots while soaking it all in! It's the perfect opportunity to unleash my inner drama queen (and by unleash, I mean politely encourage everyone else to do the same!)
Once I arrived, it was time for a spot of pre-show shopping! I couldn't resist a quick detour to the local vintage store, a hidden gem teeming with retro treasures. My dear readers, you know how much I adore vintage clothing, especially when it involves a touch of pink. My search for the perfect sparkly, pink blouse (the perfect accompaniment to a grand tutu, of course!) was successful. Oh, I can't wait to reveal my outfit in tonight's performance. Speaking of which...
The performance was at the town's very own theatre, a charming Victorian-era building bursting with history. It was truly breathtaking. I think it's so important to keep these theatres alive! They are havens of creativity, where magic happens right before your eyes. This one felt especially magical! It's where my heart truly sings – I mean, how can you resist a stage decked out in sparkling lights and the thrill of entertaining a delighted audience?
My performance? Oh, darlings, it was absolutely electric! A full-blown musical extravaganza complete with dazzling lights, confetti cannons, and a surprise guest appearance by the resident dance troupe from the town's dance academy. Let's just say, the tutus were twirling, the music was pumping, and the audience was on its feet. We had them in stitches, and by stitches, I mean they were bursting with laughter.
I'm just a bit of a country girl at heart (or should I say, Derbyshire girl at heart!), so the whole experience felt utterly enchanting. It reminds me that pink tutus, glitz, and glam aren't just for London and big city life! They have a place everywhere, and Ashington, with its charming townspeople, delightful atmosphere and welcoming hearts, absolutely embraced it. They were clapping, laughing and joining me for some fun. It was everything I'd ever wished for and more!
Now, of course, no Pink Tutu Sparkles trip would be complete without a taste of local cuisine. Imagine my delight when I discovered a delightful little cafe, adorned in a beautiful shade of… you guessed it… pink! My taste buds went on a delicious journey of their own with a delectable afternoon tea featuring delectable sandwiches, homemade scones and delicate pink cakes. Don't forget the strawberry tea – I do love a good cup of tea! It's perfect for enjoying while wearing your fabulous pink tutu, wouldn't you agree?
You know me – my inner girly-girl comes out in full force when I can spend an afternoon indulging in all things fashion! I stumbled upon a cute boutique store just around the corner. Now, if you’ve met me, you know I have a weakness for pretty much everything pink and glittery, and the shelves of this delightful store were crammed with treasures that were just begging to be purchased! They really understood the Pink Tutu Sparkles aesthetic, and I was absolutely smitten!
After indulging in some shopping and exploring the cobbled streets, it was time to head back to the train station and bid farewell to my delightful Ashington friends. As the train chugged off to the next stop on my Tutu Trail adventure, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for the warmth and welcome I received. I already knew this would be one of my most cherished trips, a memory that I will always treasure.
