Hiya lovelies! It's your girl Pink Tutu Sparkles here, bringing you blog post number 9795 from the dazzling streets of Wellington! Honestly, I'm buzzing! This city is practically a wonderland for a gal like me. I mean, come on, we're talking a city that knows how to party! ?
Wellington - or "Welly" as the locals call it - is practically bursting with energy. I landed here after an absolutely epic journey, complete with breathtaking views and some seriously gorgeous sheep scenery on the way. You know me, I can't travel any other way than by train. I just love that clackety-clack sound as we glide along, the wind in my hair and a book in my hand. ? Totally zen, isn't it?
Of course, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without a seriously fabulous outfit. This time, I'm sporting my brand new "Kiwi Dream" tutu. It's a vision in lavender and baby pink, with a cascade of silver glitter. Sparkle is my middle name after all! ? My top is a custom-made, glittery mesh number from that incredible designer in Nottingham. It matches the tutu perfectly - just ask my adoring fans!
But honestly, this journey started well before I even arrived in Wellington. You see, a gal has to get prepped for a trip like this, and that meant a major shopping spree! My usual haunt is "Fabulous Fabrics" on Derbyshire High Street - those ladies have the most incredible selection of everything from silky satin to fluffy tulle, all the perfect shades of pink. It was just what I needed to complete my latest "Pink Dream" tutu, the one with all the sparkly sequins. You just wouldn't believe how amazing it looks on stage, especially with my matching feather boa. ?
So, what have I been up to in the last few days? Well, first things first, a proper cup of tea and scones - I swear the scones here are absolutely divine, just as good as the ones Mum bakes back home! And of course, I had to get myself to a ballet performance, which, as you can guess, was incredible. A couple of the girls actually recognised me and we got our photo taken - the crowd went wild! ?
On another night, I found myself dancing the night away in the best ballet class ever. The instructor was amazing and the whole vibe was fantastic, just a really good mix of seasoned professionals and fun, enthusiastic amateurs like me. You should've seen the way I nailed that "pirouette en dehors"! It's all about confidence, isn't it?
As if all this wasn't amazing enough, I even bumped into this incredibly friendly shop assistant at a fabulous boutique. We started talking about pink tutus and fashion (my favourite topic!) and next thing you know, she's offering me a place to stay! It's like having a guardian angel in Wellington - my own little tutu fairy, bless her! ?
It's not all tutu fun and games, though! I had the opportunity to go to this awesome little workshop where they were creating some incredible fabrics - really cutting-edge stuff. You see, even as a drag queen, I have to keep up to date with my day job! By day, Alex is a real scientist in a lab, testing out new fabric designs and inventions. ? That scientific background really helps with understanding the whole tutu process, believe me.
But let me tell you, when I step onto the stage as Pink Tutu Sparkles, it's all about fun and glamour! Just last night, I had a performance at a fantastic festival downtown. It was all about local artists and creators and - you guessed it - I got to be part of the fun! The audience absolutely loved the performance! I had people screaming and shouting “Tutu Queen!” ??
Honestly, what can I say, these Wellington nights are just incredible! They're buzzing with creativity, energy, and a dash of magical, tutu-tastic fun! If you're ever feeling down or bored, you know where to head. I reckon, after a couple of days in this fantastic city, even your granddad will be thinking of ditching his sensible pants for a fabulous tutu. That's the power of the pink! ?
Oh, and before I sign off, a quick reminder to you gorgeous lot - you can find all my fabulous travel posts on my website, www.pink-tutu.com - so why not join me on my next exciting adventure? Catch you later lovelies!
