Hello darlings! It's your favourite pink tutu-clad queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, here, and boy, oh boy, am I excited to be in the heart of London!
You see, my little darlings, my latest adventure takes me to the city that never sleeps! And guess what? The "Sparkles" part of my name is very much being tested, because London is literally bursting at the seams with the most amazing lights I've ever seen. I can't believe how vibrant it is, it’s almost blinding – which is saying something when you consider how much pink I wear!
So, let me fill you in on my latest escapade, and for this particular trip, I'm leaving my beloved Ford Fiesta at home - this time I'm going all-out with the eco-friendly approach. I'm embracing my inner ballerina (and inner-city dweller!) and travelling by train, all the way from Derbyshire to London's Paddington Station.
Honestly, I've always had a penchant for the railways. They're such grand affairs, aren't they? The history! The grandeur! The delicious hot chocolate you get at the cafe on the train journey – with marshmallows, obviously! My fellow passengers on the train, dressed in all sorts of exciting garb, gave me the most wonderful stares. But you know me, darling, I’m a true professional and kept my chin up and my tiara sparkling!
My current lodgings? You’ll never guess, love. A darling little B&B called 'The Twirling Rose' – and you know how much I love my roses! Imagine the most gorgeous Victorian house, all decked out in the prettiest pink. They've even got a charming little courtyard out back that’s filled with rose bushes – just perfect for a quick pink-tutu twirl between shows.
Now, you might be wondering how a pink-loving, tutu-wearing queen can afford this grand adventure to London? Well, let's just say that I’ve been honing my skills. This pink-tutu queen is a performer extraordinaire! It’s hard work but so much fun! And that's where I found myself this past Tuesday night: dancing my little heart out for the most wonderful crowd in a bustling local pub just a stone's throw from my delightful abode.
Oh, the people I met! A bunch of fabulous ladies in fabulous dresses and dapper chaps all in tuxedos - a real mix! They all knew the moves! Even my opening song, “Pink Tutu Paradise” (a song I penned and recorded, you can get it online!), was greeted with joyous applause! I'll confess, I was a bit nervous at first, because this wasn’t my usual sort of venue, but a good old-fashioned pub gig? Turns out I have quite a good time with those fellas!
Speaking of “Pink Tutu Paradise,” I got myself a couple of fresh pink tutus before I left home, which will most certainly make an appearance while I’m in the city. Let me tell you, dear reader, it is absolutely impossible to stroll around London without getting stared at when you are a pink-tutu clad drag queen. People’s mouths hang open! It’s not surprising – who could resist such vibrant spectacle? It gives me the biggest thrill, seeing all those wide-eyed looks of awe and wonder! And trust me, darling, those looks, they’re what keep me twirling!
As you all know, my love of ballet extends far beyond my pink tutus and fabulous performances, dear reader. You might know from my past blogs how I absolutely adore ballet shows! A treat for the senses! Every move, every grace, every expression tells a story, a narrative that comes to life right before your eyes! You can’t ask for a better story-telling medium, and no, dear, that’s not just because I adore ballet dancers’ fabulous, perfectly shaped bodies. Well, that's part of the draw, sure, but mainly because of their artistry!
Well, guess what? This city, oh darling, it’s overflowing with everything to do with the most magical art form of ballet! So, you’re most definitely getting a dedicated blog entry all about the balletic delights I’m enjoying during this adventure in a future post.
And darling, to my great joy, one of my many stops has to be the grand Royal Opera House. Think opulent décor, soaring ceilings, stunningly intricate craftsmanship. Everything here is exquisite – it’s truly the ultimate stage, the kind of venue a drag queen can only dream about performing in!
Oh, and speaking of ‘performing,’ the fabulous Theatrical Performance and Stagewear Society have welcomed me into their fold. Honestly, you know my great love for costumes, outfits, sequins, feather boas… all things sparkly. That’s why this meeting was absolutely brilliant. All those wonderful talented thespians gathered in this dazzling venue: an old-time theatre just begging to be filled with laughter and drama, the air abuzz with the sounds of chatter and preparation… It’s a veritable feast of the arts. I felt right at home!
Of course, darling, with a drag queen with a passion for dance, there had to be some ballet class! I had to! As any true “tutu-ific” performer knows, training is everything! I went to London Ballet School the other day. Just amazing, I tell you, simply amazing. All these lovely ladies dancing gracefully, stretching their bodies like a perfect spring. I just love the way their energy just fills the room! Such amazing talent! It really filled my little queen’s heart with such delight! Oh, darling, it really was just as beautiful as they say!
And darling, you know how much I adore a grand shop. Nothing’s better than perusing the racks, sniffing the clothes (yes, you heard right!), seeing how those exquisite silks feel on the skin… This town, my darlings, has it all! From department stores to independent boutiques and even those delightful vintage shops! The latest, greatest trends? They've got them all, and honestly? All that fabric, all those colours! Just brilliant! So, guess who did some fabulous, and rather extensive, shopping! Oh my dear, I’ve got enough gorgeous outfits to last a whole lifetime. And of course, darling, I found another fabulous pink tutu. Just the one, of course!
While I’ve been indulging in these fabulous shopping sprees, darling, you may also be curious about my latest obsession… horses! It might sound strange to you, darling, coming from a pink-tutu-wearing drag queen but hear me out: a friend I made on the train told me about this most amazing thing! The stables here in London are absolutely magnificent! There are grand, majestic horses, just as elegant and captivating as a ballerina twirling in a performance.
My friends at the The Stable and Equestrian Centre have been absolutely wonderful to me. They even allowed me to dress up a majestic steed in my own dazzling pink tutu for an amazing photo shoot! Let me tell you, darlings, there is something quite surreal and spectacular about being on horseback! I had so much fun! It gave me the perfect opportunity to capture some unforgettable moments to share with you. Trust me, darling, when I show you the photos of myself, that little pink tutu wearing, sparkling drag queen, looking like a goddess atop those glorious steeds, you will be totally wowed!
As you can see, my darlings, life as a pink tutu-clad queen is never dull. And here’s the best bit, oh darling, you know what’s coming … I’ve got some more spectacular plans coming up! A fabulous outing to a new theatre opening… oh, the sparkly outfits I’m dreaming up! And another performance at a London fair… I am absolutely bubbling with joy and anticipation! So stay tuned, darlings!
And, dear readers, before I forget, I am always up for suggestions and would love to hear about the ballet and drag-related things going on where you live! Let me know about the latest dance performances, or local drag queen events – I’ll be checking in all over the world to get an idea of what other fabulous pink-tutu-wearing queen are up to. And, most importantly, what fab outfits you've been sporting lately!
And, remember, darling, everyone’s beautiful – you, me, everyone in their own special way. And with all my little heart, I truly believe in expressing that beauty through vibrant, creative outlets like the fabulous world of pink tutus!
Until next time, keep shining and may your every step be a dazzling twirl!
Love and sparkles, Your queen of the pink tutus,
Pink Tutu Sparkles
