Pink Tutu Sparkles Takes on Leicester! (Post 9813)

Oh my darlings, what a glorious day! Today I’m rocking my favourite pink tutu (the one with the sparkly unicorn on the front!) for a grand adventure in the vibrant city of Leicester. You see, my sweet dears, this trip isn't just about the magnificent performance I'm giving at The Grand Hall, but a real, true pilgrimage to a place of pure dance-tastic history! Leicester is like a siren calling to my heart, a swirling whirlwind of history, ballet, and fabulousness that I just couldn’t resist!

It all started, as it so often does, with a pink tutu. Remember my first tutu? The one that sent me down this delightful rabbit hole? Yes, the fluffy pink, very pre-loved, affair that I bought at a charity fundraiser for a ballet school, just for a giggle. (Honestly, I think the laughter that erupted from that classroom could have lifted the whole university.) That day, everything changed. I felt something I had never felt before - the embodiment of absolute, uninhibited, unapologetically joyful, tutu-wearing glee! From that moment, Pink Tutu Sparkles was born!

My journey began with a thrilling train ride from Derbyshire - who needs the hassle of air travel when you can soak up the scenic beauty of the English countryside, right? The journey is part of the fun, darling! I think I’m even becoming quite partial to train travel.

As we pulled into Leicester, the streets were humming with energy. The aroma of Indian food, a signature scent of this fab city, wafted through the air, adding to the atmosphere. My mind was swirling with excitement! And did I mention how much I adore Leicester’s amazing train station? Just like me, it’s a little bit grand, a bit eccentric, and oh so delightfully dramatic!

Of course, no visit to Leicester would be complete without a pilgrimage to the renowned Richard III Visitor Centre. Yes, I’m not one to shy away from history. That infamous monarch with the crooked back was found beneath a car park! It was a real shocker, darling! Not that a drama queen like myself is ever shocked.

And then, onto the glorious De Montfort Hall. It was truly majestic. Every step of the way, the building radiated history - history with a glamorous flair! Just imagine: grand old balconies overlooking the stage, and whispers of dancers past drifting through the hallways. And it only got better, as I stepped into The Grand Hall itself, my heart doing a happy pirouette! A performance in this hall is a dream come true!

Before the show, I ventured into Leicester Market. Oh, it was like a feast for the eyes, bursting with stalls bursting with colour and life! You should have seen the vintage clothes shops. I almost lost myself for hours!

As a drag artist, a great outfit is as essential as good food is to a cook. That is a fundamental truth. After all, a perfect dress, paired with that glorious tutu and some incredible sparkly accessories, is all that stands between a magnificent stage show and a mediocre performance. The beauty of drag, darling, is that it allows you to embrace your innermost self in the most incredible way, making everyone you meet see the real you.

The show went down a treat, my sweet darlings. It was fabulous! I don’t want to brag too much but I'll just say the energy was incredible. My dance routine included, of course, lots of twirls and the signature pink tutu poses (all learnt at one of my many ballet lessons! I love my ballet! A little tutu dance magic never hurts!) You have to find a tutu to express your innermost personality, dear, no matter where your journey leads! I mean, even on a dark and stormy night, you could look simply fabulous wearing the perfect tutu with your wellies. But you’re right to say, why should a tutu be relegated to something to wear at the end of the night when it's a whole world of gorgeous in and of itself. It's a dance to your own drummer kind of philosophy!

You can tell I've enjoyed Leicester, darling. I think we might have made a great deal of friends at the ballet centre. I felt so inspired after class, I popped off to a lovely antique shop to search for even more perfect vintage tutus! There is nothing better than vintage tutus! And darling, the prices, simply unbelievable. Just don't tell anyone where I find them, because it's a bit of a secret, darling, not to be shared. A drag queen needs her little secrets!

This is not my first time in Leicester. I performed here several years ago in the same wonderful hall at an “Evening of Fun and Fabulosity". And in this part of England, I've learnt there’s no end to the sheer number of fun-loving, pink tutu-adoring folks out there! They always leave a glitter trail. That is, of course, exactly how I like it! And for all of you darlings out there in the great wide world, if you're looking for something a bit unique, and fun and fabulous, give a Leicester visit a try! And if you're ever here and looking for a pink-tutu wearing drag queen, you’ll just need to follow the glitter trail, darling. You’ll know it's me, if it's Pink Tutu Sparkles you are looking for!

That’s all from me today. Tune in tomorrow for another blog from the fabulous and magical world of Pink Tutu Sparkles!
