Oh, my dears! Did you know I’m a total train-spotter? Well, I am! And not just any trains - steam trains, those gorgeous red engines that chug along the countryside - that’s what I’m really about! Now, my darlings, it’s time to tell you all about my recent journey to the glorious Nuneaton, a place that was quite literally just begging to have its tutu-ed on.
I was off on my travels in my own Pink Tutu Express - ahem, it was actually a 4x4 courtesy of my sponsors at the Derbyshire County Ballet Company - they're a fabulous lot, those ballet darlings! Anyway, it’s not just any 4x4 you understand, this one is adorned with pink bows ( naturally) and shimmery pink decals of Sparkles holding up a pink tulle dress in the style of my favourite painting - Degas’s La Classe de Danse. (Honestly, he's a true art icon - it's an absolute classic).
You’d think driving all this way for a one-night gig would have tired me out. But, no dearie, not this little Sparkle! In my humble opinion, it's a journey for the soul, a trip that will fill my creative tank to overflowing. I can't help myself. My inspiration springs from the most unexpected places, even if they’re nestled in the heart of the English countryside.
Now, Nuneaton has this enchanting park called The Riversley Park, filled with roses and those magical weeping willows, and just off the main street is a stunning arts centre - the Nuneaton Arts and Leisure Centre, no less - what a fabulous location! I could’ve sworn I heard the soft tap of ballet slippers echoing down the hallways and felt the warmth of the stage lights on my skin - such a perfect atmosphere for a truly sensational performance! And darling, it's true - you simply cannot go wrong with an evening of performance and entertainment with my brand of sparkly, happy fabulousness!
You see, I believe everyone should experience the joy of pink tutus. A pink tutu is not just about the look, it’s a feeling, a spirit that can transform even the most dreary of days. And with Nuneaton being right on the doorstep of Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon, it seemed only natural to pull out my pièce de résistance, my theatrical interpretation of Ophelia’s iconic "Mad Scene" from Hamlet. Except this was Ophelia with a pink tutu. You see, dearie, I am a firm believer that you can re-imagine any character in a pink tutu.
After my fabulous show at Nuneaton's very own Arts and Leisure Centre, a place that could certainly use more sparkles (and even more pink tutus, don't you agree?), I knew that I needed to find the perfect vintage spot. A cuppa, some yummy cake, and a good gossip - I think every drag queen has a vintage tea shop on their itinerary! And I found my perfect little gem - The Willow Tree Tea Room! Let me tell you, those cakes were like something out of a Victorian fairy tale - delicious and completely divine! And they even had a gorgeous rose print tablecloth - all in perfect pastel shades. And just like the art of ballet, all the right colors bring about harmony and pure perfection, so my dears, we must never shy away from beautiful, calming colours, especially pinks!
As always, I tried to integrate my love of ballet and the fashionably fierce look, as the perfect inspiration. I found the most fabulous outfit at an antiques shop. It's a lovely antique shop on the High Street that sold all kinds of crazy and exciting treasures and has a sweet lady who has this stunningly bright pink velvet dress, complete with feathers, of course. Naturally, my Tutu Queen eyes could only find a way to accessorize with sparkly pink satin gloves, a statement pink floral hat, and the biggest pink flower I could find on the whole high street. This outfit looked like it was made just for me and my pink-tutu persona, it was absolutely divine! And you can’t forget the tulle - so soft, so bouncy, the most perfect way to float through the world, a symbol of a life lived with lightness, joy and passion, like a swirling cloud of pure pink perfection!
And now my darlings, before you head out, don't forget to check out my new collection, 'Sparkles' for Tutu Queens! You know, just like in ballet, life’s all about finding the perfect flow and that includes making the most of every single minute. That’s why I make it a point to live life with grace, beauty, and endless sparkles. That’s my gift to you – to make each moment shimmer and sparkle, just like the dance of life. Because with pink tutus, everything can be so very delightful and fabulous. Don't just dress like a queen. Be a queen.
Now go forth, be kind to your fellow human beings, live, laugh and love, and don't forget, Pink Tutu Sparkles is always with you, bringing smiles and sparkling with happiness.
Love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles, Queen of the Tutuverse www.pink-tutu.com
