Oh darlings! Can you believe it? It’s the 27th of February, 2027, and guess who's sashayin' into Barking? Your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, of course! This, my lovelies, is Post Number 9920 on the magical pink world of www.pink-tutu.com, and if you're ready to embrace the whimsical, the fabulous, and a whole lot of tulle, then settle in! Because darling, today’s adventure is all about Barking and embracing the pinkness, and maybe even taking a ride on the old-fashioned, horse-drawn carriage... I’m feeling rather posh today, you know.
Now, darling, before I tell you all about Barking, let me just tell you that I have just had the most fabulous journey down by train. Honestly, darlings, train travel is just the best, all those gorgeous countryside views, watching the world go by…and yes, my friends, I did manage to squeeze all the amazing bits of my wardrobe on board the carriage! It’s always a tricky thing, darling, packing everything, all the sparkles, all the sequins… oh and don’t get me started on my massive collection of pink tutus. I always pack an extra spare just in case of emergencies, you know, just like a proper drag queen should!
So, before I reveal all the fab stuff I've been getting up to in this marvellous little corner of London (it’s got amazing street theatre you know) I want to remind you, darlings, my life as Pink Tutu Sparkles is all about spreading a little bit of joy and fabulousness… and most importantly, of course, making the world a more pink, tulle-filled, and sparkly place. You know my motto - "Tutu Much Is Never Enough!" It’s my motto for life darling… I live, breathe, sleep… and perform in tutus!
It was actually in that very pink and very tulle-fied life that I came across Barking… and no darling, I'm not exaggerating… I mean, it just kind of jumped out at me, as a real place in the world… not just a saying! Well, imagine my surprise… especially when I realised there’s a horse-drawn carriage that takes you around it! I love those things you know… so quaint and a tad old fashioned and definitely super romantic… and perfect for twirling in a pink tutu, natch!
My love for those big frilly, pretty things all started in Derby you know… the heart of Derbyshire! The biggest pink tutu enthusiast on planet Earth? Yes…that would be little old me! (If you don't know me darling, you need to look up www.pink-tutu.com ASAP! ). My secret…well not so secret anymore I suppose… it started when I was still at university, doing a science degree… go figure! One day I decided to check out the university's ballet club. It sounded like a laugh and hey, let’s face it darling… ballet… just like drag is such a gorgeous expression of your artistry! So I was in the club for a few weeks, and then, whoosh… the day happened that changed my whole world.
I went to one of the club’s meetings - we were holding a charity fashion show at the time, and I ended up doing something I had never done before, even in my darkest days. You’ve gotta see this darling, it was SO brave… I tried on a tutu!! (Now my whole world is based on wearing those darn things, so… yeah) and guess what darling…I fell in love. Head over heels, big-time. The rest as they say, is history.
As soon as I put on that big old, lovely pink tutu - oh the glorious feeling of frills and lightness... the tulle just twirling around… and my entire world shifted. That was when it started – the dreams, the vision for Pink Tutu Sparkles... my stage name… the idea of the blog, everything… even the travelling from my Derbyshire roots all the way down to London to the magical, sparkly world of Barking!
But hey, what would life be without a little science? I mean… every gorgeous frock, every shiny piece of material...even the fabulous tutus that you see me in on this here blog, every single one is put together using super high-tech stuff, and as a scientist… I can honestly tell you how! Don’t get me started, darling, you know what’s amazing… scientists… well they create such incredible things, so naturally I went into research myself… I actually test the strength and the quality of fabrics in a lab during the day – well… sometimes darling. I’ve got lots of fun stuff I get to experiment with, from things you might never imagine!
Don't even get me started on my love for the big showstopping stuff! We’re talking satin, tulle, taffeta… and always a touch of sequins darling, always. And that’s where the real story of this blog comes in… it’s my mission to inspire everyone in the world to embrace their inner pink-loving, tulle-obsessed selves...and get wearing that fab frock…and wear a tutu! I mean… darling, isn’t a little tulle always a great idea?!
Okay, darling, I better get to the good stuff...I'm off to a fab afternoon performance on the stage, at one of those lovely theatres they've got here in Barking! This time though darling… I've brought out the really special big frock. Yes, you heard that right. That sparkly gown that really brings the house down, the one with the million sparkles… and the giant pink tulle skirt! You have to trust me darling, you just wouldn't believe it… I’ve spent the whole day designing it, thinking about it… even practicing my routine! It's going to be truly fabulous... you just wait and see! You’re just going to love this, darling… trust me.
I think it’s safe to say darling that Barking has completely captured my heart. From the little corner of Derbyshire where it all began… through all my mad adventures... the beautiful landscapes… my magical Pink Tutu world... right up to this point, all I have to say is this darling... I’m simply soaking it all in… I wouldn’t trade this for the whole world darling, I just love my life... even when it involves super big tutus… and really amazing sparkles!
