Oh, my darlings! It’s your favourite pink tutu-wearing queen, Pink Tutu Sparkles, back with a brand new blog post! You know the drill, pop the kettle on, grab a cuppa, and let’s dive into my latest adventures…
This week, I ventured out of Derbyshire and down to sunny (well, kinda sunny…) Bedfordshire to grace the stage of Dunstable! Now, you might be thinking, Dunstable? That’s a bit…out of the way, isn’t it? Well, my sweet cherubs, as the fabulous Dame Edna once said, "Where you are, is where you are!"
I absolutely love discovering new towns and cities, embracing their unique character and, of course, spreading the pink tutu gospel! Dunstable has such a sweet charm; its cobbled streets and quaint shops remind me of a quaint fairytale village, only with a hint of urban chic thrown in for good measure.
My arrival was spectacular, naturally! The train journey was delightful; I found myself sat next to a darling couple who couldn’t believe I’d taken the train in my full, magnificent glory! You see, dearies, it’s not about blending in; it’s about standing out and shining! I mean, how boring would the world be if we all just looked and acted the same?
The highlight of the journey? Meeting the most delightful elderly lady in her pink coat, matching pink hat and handbag, sporting the sweetest pink lipstick! Now, she didn’t have a tutu, but let me tell you, my dear darlings, she absolutely had the sparkle! We chatted about life, travel, and the importance of being yourself. She told me I was ‘a ray of sunshine’ - the highest compliment, I say!
Upon arriving at my hotel, the most fantastic gentleman, who shall remain unnamed for privacy reasons (even though he looked like a younger, toned down, more serious version of Elton John!), asked me with the most genuine smile, “are you going to be the entertainment?” I couldn’t resist: “I’d be absolutely delighted to bring a touch of sparkle to your evening! How about I show you what I can do, and you tell me if it brings a little more pink to your world?" He burst into laughter, a sound like cascading chimes, and agreed with a twinkle in his eye.
Oh, dearies, it was simply magical! I spun my stories, told a few gags (which landed well, let me tell you), and, naturally, finished with a graceful ballet performance in my beautiful pink tutu. His smile, my dearies, was worth all the travel and the sparkle.
My performance at the Dunstable Arts Centre, however, was a true dream come true! You wouldn’t believe the fantastic reception I got from the locals, even the young ‘uns were bopping along to my upbeat dance numbers, their little faces alight with joy.
Afterwards, I had a delicious supper in the quaintest restaurant, tucked away down a narrow lane. I simply couldn’t resist indulging in a glass of sparkling wine and some scrumptious local cheese and crackers. My darling server was a bit hesitant about a tutu in the restaurant at first, but, my dear, I showed her that pink isn't just for little girls - it's a symbol of happiness and sparkle, perfect for all ages! And that’s what my mission is, you see? To remind everyone that the world is a beautiful place, and with a little bit of pink and a lot of sparkle, we can all be fabulous.
Now, for the next leg of my adventure… a jaunt over to nearby Bedford for a performance at the Swan Theatre. They say the show must go on! Until next time, my lovely little kittens, don't forget to live life to the fullest and be your true, glittering selves, always remember to wear your invisible tutu with pride, and never forget: the world is your stage!
