Hello darlings! ? Pink Tutu Sparkles here, ready to whisk you away to the charming seaside town of Herne Bay! This post is number 9983, can you believe it? That’s almost ten thousand posts of glittery goodness, all available on my little corner of the internet: www.pink-tutu.com.
Now, as a self-proclaimed Tutu Queen, I couldn’t possibly resist the call of the coast! Herne Bay was beckoning me with its iconic pier, its breath-taking views, and of course, the irresistible opportunity to showcase my most flamboyant pink tutus!
The journey itself was an absolute delight. I opted for a seaside train journey, something that always reminds me of a classic film, don't you think? You know, all that seaside air, the scent of salt and candyfloss, and the joy of spotting the occasional seagull gracefully swooping over the carriage. And of course, the perfect opportunity to catch up on some glamorous magazine reading - the latest issue of Vogue is full of stunning looks for Spring, you’ve just got to check it out!
As soon as I arrived in Herne Bay, it was clear that this town had a special sparkle. There’s an undeniable vibrancy in the air, a feeling of pure escapism that just sets you free. After all, what’s life without a bit of whimsy, right?
My first stop was, of course, the pier. You just can’t come to a seaside town without enjoying a jaunt down the pier. It was like stepping back in time, with its bustling stalls and joyful laughter. I spotted some fabulously quirky souvenirs - including a pink tutus-shaped keychain! Needless to say, it’s now proudly decorating my bag.
Speaking of pink tutus, I couldn’t resist taking the most magnificent pictures! The setting sun, the gentle sea breeze, the joyous energy… everything was absolutely perfect! Just a hint of salt on my glitter was all I needed to complete the look, you know?
Of course, no trip to Herne Bay is complete without indulging in the delights of the seaside cuisine. I enjoyed a perfectly cooked fish and chips, followed by a delicious ice cream sundae (pink, naturally!). Now, I have to say, the amount of ice cream that was devoured on this trip was impressive even by my standards. I may have needed a second ice cream after the second helping of fish and chips. Delicious, oh-so-delicious!
And speaking of treats, a highlight of this journey was the opportunity to share the magic of pink tutus with the local children. I had the absolute joy of leading a ‘Tutu Workshop’ for a group of kids on the beach! They were SO excited to get involved - all those creative little minds exploring their love for dancing and the art of the tutu. They all danced like tiny fairies, spinning, twirling and sparkling, each with a pink tutu crafted with their own unique flair. It was the perfect blend of fun and artistry - you’d never believe how much we all loved every single second.
Don’t think for a moment I forgot my own routines, darlings. I performed for a lovely group of enthusiastic audiences at The Mermaid Theatre - such an enchanting and historic venue. It’s all about taking every opportunity to share the magic of a little bit of sparkle and joy, wherever I can. After all, spreading love, laughter, and glitter is my mission!
And my dears, if I've learned one thing during my time here in Herne Bay, it's that life is best lived in full colour! Just embrace your individuality, find your own sparkle, and dare to be yourself. That's what makes the world such a wonderful, vibrant place.
Of course, my time in Herne Bay couldn't possibly end without mentioning the amazing local community I encountered. Their warm smiles and welcoming nature filled me with so much happiness. And let me tell you, they definitely get my "Pink Tutu" message! Everyone was so thrilled to have a little pink tutu magic brought to their town.
And I'm sure I left them feeling a little bit more sparkly than before!
Right, I must say goodbye to my lovely Herne Bay, but not before wishing you a delightful week, filled with rainbows, sunshine and of course, pink tutus!
See you in the next blog, darlings! ✨
Love,
Pink Tutu Sparkles ?
A Day in the Life of Alex: Beyond the GlitterOkay, okay, you've seen me strut my stuff on stage, but who’s Alex behind the glittery persona? I’m just an ordinary Derbyshire girl who got obsessed with pink tutus and, well, turned into a queen, I suppose.
By day, I’m Alex, a scientist at a lab testing fabric. Yup, the lab coat doesn’t exactly scream “Pink Tutu Sparkle.” You wouldn’t know it to look at me, but I’ve always had a thing for science, I’m obsessed with atoms and molecules! Who would have guessed my life would become a beautiful mixture of atoms, fabric and sequins?
The tutu magic happened in the most unlikely of places - the university ballet club. My bestie, Eleanor, convinced me to try on a tutu for a fundraising event, and… BAM! My life was transformed. There was something about that swish, that sparkle, that just sparked something deep within me. I decided right then and there I’d make my own dazzling path, regardless of whether or not that path involved wearing a lab coat.
The thing is, my obsession with pink isn't a new thing. My parents, bless their hearts, they must’ve realised quite quickly that a standard baby-blue blanket just wouldn't do, and so my life was instantly painted in shades of pink. There’s nothing quite as special as seeing the world through a rose-tinted pair of tutu-laced spectacles!
After university, I found a great job at a local textile company and discovered the magic of fabric! You might not know this but a great deal of science goes into fabrics! I am basically an expert on fabric now, which comes in really handy for picking the most wonderful tutus! But it doesn’t end there, every single thing from glitter, sequins, to feather boas - it’s all fabrics and the chemistry of them is simply fascinating. And trust me, it’s definitely not a boring job, there’s endless fun to be had with fabrics!
Don't think for a minute I just put on a sparkly tutu at the end of a long day and that’s all. It’s not magic, I promise, there are hours and hours of preparation for the “Pink Tutu Sparkles” show. Getting ready for a night out as Pink Tutu Sparkle takes a lot more time and energy than one might expect.
I start the day the same way - getting ready to go to the lab, where I’m the lead researcher testing new types of synthetic fibres - how's that for a fun fact? But at the back of my mind, there's always a touch of glitter and pink tutus in my daydreaming. My commute takes about an hour, usually listening to podcasts and the odd Adele song or two! It's an opportunity for a mental escape from the laboratory, though let’s be honest, sometimes the only way to escape from atoms and molecules is by wearing a bright pink tutu!
Once I get home, the magic truly begins. Hours of making-up, perfecting my look, trying on different outfits and putting together an awesome, original performance. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got no problem wearing heels and glitter for hours! But my favourite part, well, you can probably guess. It’s all about those tutus, I think! Every one has its own personality, and choosing the right one for the right show is pure joy. It’s almost as if I am creating a new character every time. I always try to make them unique and eye-catching and there's always that touch of my beloved pink. I even make a lot of them myself, so I get to have full creative control!
It’s tough, juggling the scientific life with the Pink Tutu Sparkle lifestyle, it’s almost like being two different people in a way. But at the end of the day, I am so very, very happy with this chaotic and fulfilling life. Life’s not always going to be easy or make sense but if you’ve got a good set of friends, family and tutus… well, that’s enough to make your heart sparkle, isn’t it?
Until next time darlings… be strong, be proud, be YOU, and… don't be afraid to put on a pink tutu! ?
