Hey lovelies! It’s your girl, Pink Tutu Sparkles, ready to share another magical adventure with you all! Today's post is extra special, as it marks my 10,000th blog post - can you believe it? ?
And what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the vibrant North Shields! The moment I heard the call, my heart skipped a beat, and my mind raced with the possibilities. A coastal town brimming with history, a bustling marketplace, and the North Sea - my love of pink tutus will be in full force! ??
Speaking of tutus, remember how I mentioned in a previous post that I'd always wanted to explore the vibrant North East? Well, this is it! I've been eyeing up this little gem on the map for a while, and I'm so thrilled to be here finally!
It's a Pink Tutu Kind of Day! ?
So, I’m officially in North Shields, and you guys wouldn’t believe the adventures I've already had!
Firstly, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu Sparkles trip without a sprinkle of sparkle and glamour. Now, my travel style is pretty much as you would expect: pink, of course, with a touch of whimsical charm. ? I've opted for a beautiful hot pink train set - with a huge, fuschia-hued, fluffy tutu for maximum impact. A big thank you to my darling Auntie Jean who crocheted it! You'll have to see the picture in the next post - it's divine!
I’ve gotta say, though, I had a few moments where I was feeling like a little pink unicorn wandering around a place so different from my usual haunts in Derbyshire! I mean, you get used to being a spectacle, but I found a couple of rather prim ladies peering down their noses at my outfit. A tiny bit of self-doubt crept in… but then I reminded myself - "Girl, you rock this! Pink is in!" and off I bounced with my pink tulle in all its glorious twirls.
*But… I don't need all this "attention-grabbing!" do I? *
Yes, you absolutely do. Pink Tutu Sparkles lives to inspire, entertain, and bring a splash of colour into the world! We can’t all live with dreary shades of grey, and so my fabulous mission remains - to encourage everyone to wear pink and twirl like nobody's watching! ✨
The North Shields Market: A Twirling Treasure Trove
Today, I ventured into the heart of North Shields market - and oh boy, was it a spectacle for the senses! ? Stalls laden with colourful treats, smells of spices, freshly-baked goods and sea air - this was truly an eclectic delight! The market was alive with energy - laughter, music, and friendly faces everywhere.
I couldn’t resist indulging in a few treats - the smell of freshly-baked bread pulled me in, and I just had to have a warm cinnamon bun with lashings of creamy frosting. My dear friend, Miss Kitty Cuddles, from down the road who’s also on the blog, agreed that it was just the fuel we needed for our afternoon of twirling and shopping.
You betcha I snapped up a gorgeous handmade pink bag for the next show! (You’ll be able to see a preview of that, later - I’ve been filming as we go!) You wouldn’t believe the selection of fabrics – everything from silky lace to sparkly satin - it’s a good job I only needed one bag… I really loved the pink sparkle silk but knew I had to choose the one that had enough pink for that new outfit.
Sharing the Sparkles: Bringing Joy to North Shields
One of the things I absolutely love about traveling is meeting new people and connecting over shared interests. You’ll be surprised how many people just love tutus and ballet! It’s so fascinating. I met this lovely young woman, Martha, in the market. She was volunteering at the ‘Wear Pink Day’ stall!
It was like we were destined to meet. Martha told me about the charity raising money for research into a children’s cancer – that's really special, right? So, obviously, I had to lend my pink presence to this awesome cause. After a quick change (another great reason to have a spare tutu) and a fabulous bit of hairspray, I was ready to spread some sparkle at the charity stall. The children's smiles when they saw my dazzling pink outfit just melted my heart - the absolute sweetest faces you've ever seen! ?
They’ve done some amazing work for their cause and we spent ages talking about everything they are doing! You’ve never heard so much laughter at a charity stall – that’s the joy of Pink Tutu Sparkles! We spent the afternoon selling cakes and making people laugh.
*Where the Dance Meets the Sea: *
Before heading back to the little cottage where I'm staying, Miss Kitty and I strolled along the waterfront. The cool sea air felt amazing on my face - it was simply divine! It was breathtaking to witness the vast ocean stretching before me, it truly is an enchanting sight. It even felt like my tutu was swirling in the breeze… if only! I had to get my best pink twirl into a snap! We even had the audacity to try a tiny bit of ballet by the beach – we looked as if we were trying to perform “Swan Lake” by the seafront… you’ll see all the funny bloopers and moments on my new YouTube channel coming soon!
We felt the soft sand between our toes, took in the scent of salty air, and reveled in the peaceful energy of the coastal scene.
And then, a flash of pink - a little girl walking towards us, wearing a beautiful ballerina dress, her eyes sparkling like tiny seashells! ? She twirled like a miniature princess, just like Pink Tutu Sparkles! She was such a ray of sunshine - I had to rush up to her. Her Mum and I talked and had the most delightful conversation! The lovely little ballerina’s name is Clara and her Mum asked me if I’d do a workshop for children like Clara… I can’t promise yet! but that has set my little mind working…
A Pink Tutu Legacy
The night sky was ablaze with a magnificent sunset as we sat on a bench overlooking the ocean. The sun's warm glow painted the clouds in vibrant shades of pink and orange, mirroring the dazzling pink of my tutu. It was a moment I'll cherish forever - an iconic scene set against a perfect sky backdrop. It felt like a little pink unicorn, all fluffy and fabulous, had stumbled into a dream!
