Today we're shimmying into the glorious town of Prestwich! Yes, this stunningly pink-tastic queen is heading North to embrace the joy of the great North! ? Let me tell you, it's already proving to be a magnificent journey of fabulousness!
Firstly, this journey is a dream come true, you see. Remember my post on #RailwayRhapsody, that’s right, the one where I declared my absolute, undying love for all things railway? Well, Prestwich is a mere one hour ten minute train journey from good ol' Derbyshire! And not only that, I snagged a first-class carriage - champagne flutes, darling! ?✨ It really feels like royalty in motion - almost as glorious as travelling by horseback! (But let's face it, who actually travels by horseback anymore, right?)
Anyways, back to the journey at hand! The moment I stepped off the train, it was pure magic. The air, crisp and invigorating, the sun shining like a celestial disco ball - absolute perfection! And then I saw the park. A magnificent green expanse of lush grass with glorious towering trees! A pink tutu dream come true! ?
And of course, I couldn’t resist doing what every self-respecting Pink Tutu Sparkles should do! I whipped out my favourite, shimmery pink tutu and spun myself silly in the sunshine! ?♀️? The grass, as they say, felt just like my pink velvet bed! ? It truly is the stuff dreams are made of. But the adventure isn't over yet, my lovely friends! The big day is almost here, the reason I travelled to Prestwich! The fabulous Tutus on Tour are coming to town! ?
That's right, I'm excited to announce my stunning performance! Tonight, at the glorious Preston, (Preston, I mean Prestwich - still figuring this whole north of England place out), the amazing Tutus on Tour are ready to rock and roll with some seriously epic entertainment! It’s all for the annual #TutuDayCharity bash, raising funds for Help The Fairies, that amazing local charity that helps young people discover their inner sparkle, you know? It's close to my heart, this charity, since getting myself on the drag scene was something of a fairy-tale journey… a big thank you to The Pink Tutu Dream at the university.
Don't miss this amazing event! The Prestwich Players are putting on their most spectacular performance in all the most incredible pink tutus imaginable! Oh my gosh, just imagine the pink-tastic extravaganza! And I'll be strutting my own bespoke, glittering tutu with sequins galore! ?✨ Oh darling, get ready to ooh and ahh as the magnificent Prestwich Players do what they do best!

My Life as a Tutu Queen: Behind the Scenes
You're all about to see Pink Tutu Sparkles, rocking out in her fabulous tutu! But did you know that it wasn’t so long ago that I was…well, let’s just say…slightly less sparkly!
Life before Pink Tutu Sparkles is a story that still surprises me to this day. Imagine this: a slightly-shy-but-perfectly-fabulous scientist from Derbyshire - that's me, Alex, behind the makeup and the feathers! ?
My story, well, you see it was a typical university student, studying Science and wondering how much longer I could take ‘the boring bits’. ? But one glorious day, something totally life-changing happened: the University Ballet Club charity fundraiser!
I remember it so vividly. The whole room, it was a sea of shimmery fabrics, sequins and of course, a huge rack of stunning, beautiful… Tutus. They were in all shapes and colours, with delicate details like floral designs and gorgeous ribbons, the most amazing display! ?
Of course, I just had to try one on for myself! A pale pink, just like the shade of my new fluffy bathrobe! It fit perfectly. The minute I twirled my legs up and saw the shape and feel of the fabric, my heart skipped a beat! The moment I caught my reflection in the full-length mirror, a sudden, overwhelming wave of utter joy washed over me! A feeling that my whole world had been turned completely upside down, completely reinvented! It felt as if I had found my own kind of magic. ✨
Right there, that was it: my inner sparkle came out! A massive, pink-tastic, glittery, twirling, sparkly explosion of fabulousness! ?✨
That day was a huge turning point in my life! I started my science career, focusing on textiles. Who knows, maybe all that experience will one day help Pink Tutu Sparkles have the most amazing, bespoke and sparkly, tutus! ?
My life now is truly the best! I can’t wait to take Pink Tutu Sparkles on all kinds of adventures! My dreams are big and pink and sparkly - I can’t wait to share every single moment!

Even now, with Pink Tutu Sparkles, pink is definitely in my style DNA! It’s bold, it’s glamorous, it’s bright! ? For me, pink screams, 'Look at me, I’m confident, glamorous and fun! ‘ You can say it! It’s a way to say to the world - 'I embrace being me'. I say 'pink is a state of mind' ! ?
As a queen, you’ll always find a dazzling, pink-tastic look to take centre stage! From those delicate lace frills and ribbons, to statement sequins, Pink Tutu Sparkles knows exactly how to put together an amazing outfit! And just a hint of glitter is essential, darling, it’s like mandatory in the fashion world. ✨
Of course, no outfit is complete without my beloved pink tutus. I just love finding hidden gems! Every single one I own is unique, I make sure every tutu tells a different story. ? There are the ones for performances - they’re huge, they sparkle, they just wow audiences. Then there are the delicate ones I adore for travelling by train, just to bring a touch of sparkle wherever I go. (I also find it’s amazing for keeping your skirt away from the engine.)

Tutus… oh my gosh…where do I even begin?
There is a certain elegance and a majestic feel about them that brings out my inner grace.
It's all about freedom of expression - the opportunity to express myself in every single, whimsical, wonderful way imaginable! I have always loved dancing, and my favourite, classical ballet, that elegant, flowing movement, just fills my soul with joy.
It’s no wonder I chose my drag name, right? Pink Tutu Sparkles - there's just no way you can be unhappy in a sparkly pink tutu! It instantly transforms me into a goddess of the stage, with a sprinkle of magic for good measure!
My style - that perfectly pink, whimsical whirlwind of femininity! From a fashion perspective, it’s not just ‘Tutu-mania’ , it’s an expression of confidence. And what can be more confident than a fabulous tutu?
From the Lab to the Stage
Did I mention that I have a super-secret day job? Well, my darlings, while I may be Pink Tutu Sparkles by night, during the day, I’m Alex, a scientist. But don’t worry, my fabulousness isn’t lost during my daytime hours, no way! I’m a textile scientist, focused on all things fab and fabulous - fabrics! So, it’s pretty much like being a queen all day long.
Actually, I think being a scientist is kind of like being a drag queen, we are always researching and experimenting! Both my daytime job and my Pink Tutu Sparkles life both involve discovery - the science of textiles and the magic of a perfectly-sparkly pink tutu! ?
The science lab and the stage are both my arenas of discovery - discovering beauty, experimenting with creativity and always, always wearing my best pink. ?
Travels of a Tutu Queen!
And that brings me to one last bit of fun for you lovely people, the Pink Tutu Sparkles travelling diary!
Let’s just say, when I was a scientist, it was all ‘commuter train, arrive on time’. As for Pink Tutu Sparkles? Glamour, my darling! From London to Manchester, then a trip up to Scotland, I love the freedom to wander around the UK exploring new destinations with a sparkly tutu.
My Mission
My journey isn’t just about travelling around in pink sparkle! It’s a mission. My dream is for everyone to feel free to put on a pink tutu and express themselves. It’s not just about the ‘tutu’ but what it symbolizes. It’s all about expressing who you are and just letting your sparkle shine, bright, beautiful and full of love.
And who knows, maybe by 2028, my mission will have been achieved, and every single one of you will have put on a pink tutu at least once! Pink is forever.
