Brixton Bows Down to Tutu Tuesday!

Okay, girlies, so this past Tuesday was EVERYTHING! Not just because the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and the smell of freshly baked jerk chicken filled the air (I'm so in love with Brixton's multicultural food scene, BTW!), but because, my dears, it was #Tututuesday!

Now, I know what you're thinking: "Tutus? In Brixton? You're crazy, darling!" But let me tell you, the vibe was positively magical. Picture this: a rainbow of tulle swirling down Brixton Market, laughter bouncing off the brick walls, and the most fabulous, pink-loving ladies strutting their stuff in some seriously dazzling tutus.

You see, there's something so empowering about a tutu. It’s a symbol of freedom, a rebellion against boring, everyday outfits. It screams "I’m here to shine!” – which, frankly, is exactly the kind of energy we all need right now.

My outfit for the occasion? Well, darling, I had to go all out! My go-to pink, tulle, and sparkles combo was, of course, a must. This time, I rocked a knee-length, multi-layered tutu with a hint of lilac and iridescent pink, adorned with shimmery sequins and topped with a sassy, crystal-embellished bustier. Talk about feeling like a disco queen ready to conquer the dance floor! (Though I did have to hold back on the dance moves due to my knee being a tad sore from my pirouettes. Honestly, the ballet life can be rough sometimes, but it’s all worth it when you get to wear fabulous tutus!)

Of course, I couldn’t forget the accessories! I matched my signature pink cat-eye sunglasses with a vibrant pink and gold handbag, which held the essentials - lipstick, blotting paper (I hate oily-looking makeup!), and of course, my signature unicorn hair clip. My unicorn obsession has only grown stronger, by the way, and if you saw how extra my unicorn tutu was, you’d understand. It’s got those holographic sparkly rainbows you can only dream of, plus this intricate little golden unicorn that literally comes to life when the sun hits it. Don't even get me started on the way it glistened under the strobe lights of the street performers later!

Now, let's talk about the crowd, shall we? This is where it gets truly magical. Imagine every type of tutu you can think of, each one showcasing its wearer's unique style and personality. There were the classic "Swan Lake" ballerinas with their elegant, floor-length white tutus, paired with graceful, almost ethereal makeup and ballet buns. Then you had the "Party Princesses" rocking their sassy pink tulle mini tutus with everything from platform trainers to diamante sandals. And my personal favorite: the "Rainbow Warriors," who dared to be bold and different with their rainbow tutus. One girl even had a giant sparkly pineapple perched on hers – who knew pineapple-tutu combinations could be so fabulous?

Honestly, I just felt so grateful to be surrounded by all these awesome women (and a few fabulous men!), united by our shared love for everything sparkly, whimsical, and, yes, totally pink! The air was filled with infectious laughter, supportive "slay"s and compliments galore – what more could you ask for? I’m pretty sure some were even practicing their barre workouts, though my favourite part was the epic impromptu disco dancing! The crowd had transformed into a symphony of shimmering tulle, bouncing to the infectious beat of some 80’s disco bangers! You know, the kind of tunes you can't help but clap and spin to, right?

If there's one thing that truly stood out, it was the creative flair each person brought to their #tututuesday outfits. One group had matching pastel tutus with whimsical unicorn wings - which, naturally, I had to join in for a group pic! They'd even fashioned little unicorn horns for their outfits, making it one of the most unicorn-themed looks I'd ever seen (and this coming from a certified unicorn enthusiast, ladies!) It's moments like this that truly showcase the magic of #Tututuesday – it’s a day for expressing ourselves, letting loose, and finding joy in the most unexpected places.

By the end of the day, we'd danced until our feet were sore, shared tons of laughs, and even spotted a few paparazzi (clearly they know a good story when they see it!) Honestly, this #tututuesday in Brixton was a reminder of just how much joy and creativity exists when we embrace our unique personalities. You know, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want to wear a sparkly tulle explosion, especially when it’s in a place like Brixton? The whole experience made me want to say, "Let’s get down!" If you’re not already part of the tutu revolution, I strongly encourage you to give it a go. You might be surprised at how much fun it is to break free and embrace your inner ballerina (or unicorn enthusiast! 😉)

You can bet your sparkly, unicorn-decorated heels I’ll be back for the next #Tututuesday, Ready to paint the town pink! And if you see me there, don’t be shy to come say hi! We can do some twirling and maybe even compare tutu tips - because sharing is caring! 😉

Until then, keep twirling and stay fabulous, girlies! 💖✨🦄
