Honestly, I woke up this morning buzzing with a ridiculous amount of energy – the kind that makes you reach for your glitziest pair of shoes and the biggest, fluffiest tutu in your collection. This summer weather is making me feel like a shimmering disco ball, and what better way to celebrate than with a touch of whimsy and a whole lot of pink?
Today, we're all about embracing our inner unicorns. My favourite new tutu is a stunning confection of pale pink silk, featuring layers of tulle so voluminous, it could double as a giant cloud. It has a delicate shimmer running through it, which catches the sunlight and throws rainbow prisms across the pavement. I’ve topped it off with a shimmering unicorn headpiece that just screams “I’m ready to dance my way into the sunset!”
Now, I know what you're thinking: tutus in the summer? Aren't those things meant for crisp autumn evenings and grand theatre halls? Well, my darling, the beauty of the tutu lies in its versatility. It can be effortlessly adapted for every occasion! From a casual lunch with friends (imagine the reaction of the waiter when you strut in with a majestic pouffy tulle creation!) to a leisurely stroll through the park, the tutu will always inject a touch of whimsy into your day.
I spotted my bestie, Rosie, rocking a delightful “short & sweet” tutu. It was a cute, mini version with layers of ruffled tulle and delicate flower embellishments that brought out her sparkling personality.
Meanwhile, Lily had chosen a stunning “maxi tutu” – think layers and layers of cascading tulle in a fiery orange that looked like the setting sun. And the pièce de résistance was a flowing cape she draped over her shoulders, like a majestic phoenix spreading its wings. It’s fair to say she stole the show.
Let’s talk about the unicorn inspiration! Of course, you can’t have a Tutu Tuesday dedicated to mythical creatures without embracing the fabulous unicorn aesthetic. This season, unicorns are more than just mythical steeds, they are a statement!
I noticed an abundance of sparkly unicorn horns adorning hair buns and elaborate headbands, along with colourful unicorn face masks and shimmery wings adding to the magic. My personal favourite is a tiny sparkly unicorn charm I hang on my ballet bag, as if he’s hitched a ride with me for the day.
Honestly, Pinner is in the midst of a unicorn explosion. If you walk down the High Street you’re likely to see glitter, unicorn horns, and tutu swirls on just about every corner. It's infectious, this love for unicorns and twirls, and I can't help but smile whenever I catch a glimpse of a fellow tutu enthusiast in the midst of all the chaos.
But it’s not all about the fabulous fashion. Tutu Tuesday is also a time for sharing our passion with the world. From spontaneous flash mobs to impromptu ballet lessons in the park, we're making Pinner a playground of joy and self-expression. You just might see me on the steps of the local library leading a conga line with the neighbours – after all, why not!
