Plymouth: Tutu Tuesday Takes Flight, and We're Riding the Rainbow with Unicorns!

Oh, darlings, let’s talk Tutu Tuesday in Plymouth! Honestly, it felt like the whole town was wearing tulle – in every shade imaginable! My, oh, my! Let’s rewind back to the moment I knew this day was going to be special

As a self-proclaimed Tutu Queen (who knew being the boss meant always looking fierce in fabulous dancewear? Not to mention how the world’s obsession with ‘Pretty Woman’ helped us make tutu’s chic!), I have to confess I wasn’t prepared for what my beloved Plymouth had in store. I mean, it’s Plymouth! Known for its salty sea air and its incredible maritime history! Not for its disco fever in tulle, right? Wrong! Turns out, Tutu Tuesday took everyone by surprise, even the resident seagulls. It was a day where everyone took to the streets wearing pink! (Don’t worry, it wasn’t the colour that surprised everyone - it was the dancewear. This town is clearly not immune to the joys of ballet!). I was so in awe.

It all began, of course, with my very special Tutu Tuesday ritual. You see, every week I have my go-to Tutu Tuesday routine, like some kinda’ ballet-obsessed goddess. I pop out of bed, pick out a magnificent Tutu, sip on my green tea, then blast my favourite Donna Summer and disco tracks, do a little twirl (well, lots of little twirls – what’s Tutu Tuesday without twirling?) - the perfect way to wake up. However, it wasn’t business as usual this week
the entire city of Plymouth had followed suit. The air buzzed with anticipation.

First stop? Plymouth Hoe. Let’s be honest, what could be better than a walk along the seaside with a view of the dramatic coastline - looking as fabulous as possible? I had my pick of the perfect outfit. For Tutu Tuesday I opted for a pink multi-layered, frilly tutu with sequins that glittered like the sunshine hitting the water. Let me tell you - this tutu definitely had that unicorn magic that everyone is raving about.

For those not in the know, “Unicorn Magic” is about as chic as a sparkly tutus can get - if I do say so myself - it's the hot new thing for dancers! Just think tulle, big tulle, soft pastel colors, with intricate detail - think pearl beads and little butterflies and sparkle. Like a delicate rainbow for your bum. You have to have this! Plus, what’s more unicorn than pink? Let’s be real - this trend is practically a unicorn ballet dream! Just picture it: you're surrounded by gorgeous people rocking pink.

Walking the streets of Plymouth was quite surreal - a magical kaleidoscope of ballet bliss, as everyone's pink, sparkly, and iridescent attire practically glistened in the sunlight. This certainly made the seaside experience even more extraordinary!

Plymouth Hoe was positively exploding with Tutus of every shape and style. Of course, there was a classic fluffy pink tulle tutus, short tutu styles that looked totally glam! But the thing is - Tutu Tuesday really brings out the best in creative style and flair! It was really cool. There were tutus covered in flowers, sequined ones, multi-coloured rainbow tulle
my oh my, every kind imaginable! Honestly, I'm still thinking about that pink sequined tutu I saw a man wearing on the Hoe
 The smile on his face
The glitter... You'll understand once you've experienced Tutu Tuesday! It's more than just wearing tulle, darlings, it's about embracing your inner ballerine goddess.

Next, it was time for some Plymouth-style entertainment and let’s just say that Plymouth put on quite the show! After a little tutu-twirling session on Plymouth Hoe we headed towards the Barbican for a little ‘balletic’ activity. This was an incredible display! Everyone started doing ballet routines outside of the historic pubs
there were little ballet groups all doing 'arabesques', and then some doing grand jetĂ©s and piquĂ©s! It was fantastic! And, oh, those amazing tutus twirling, flashing, and fluttering as everyone moved and flowed. It was like everyone was on stage! Even the people watching just stopped and watched, mesmerized. I mean, come on! Tutu Tuesday - let’s be honest! We are practically princesses, right?

That afternoon, a sense of pure Tutu-licious excitement bubbled as we strolled down the beautiful cobbled streets in Plymouth’s historic city centre - that place is magic! Everywhere we went we encountered locals rocking their pink attire - just as if the Barbie-fied fairy godmother of dance herself had waved her magical wand! Seriously, it felt magical and like every one had gone a bit crazy for tulle - even the shop assistants had pink feathers and sequins on their uniforms! It was wild!

I must confess, I'm an advocate for fabulous tutu’s, but honestly - it was the sheer joy on people’s faces, the pure magic of wearing something different - that makes Tutu Tuesday, and Plymouth’s embrace of it, such a wonderful and special thing. There’s a reason people in the know call it “The magic of the tutu" after all!

My dear fashionista readers - what better way to end this perfect Tutu Tuesday than a stop at a cafe to indulge in a decadent cake and tea while wearing the perfect sparkly pink ensemble? Seriously, life doesn’t get any better! And, who can say ‘no’ to the perfect tea and cake combo in a tutu? This week’s cake was something special - I found a new shop - with a unicorn themed cupcake. Seriously, they are a must! It came topped with a tiny white sugar unicorn and I nearly cried with joy at the perfection.

It's these experiences, this sense of playfulness and expression - these little bits of tulle-clad fun – that are part of why we love Tutu Tuesday! This celebration is about looking fierce and beautiful, sure! But, at its heart, Tutu Tuesday is a fun celebration of fashion and dance! The beauty is how this city has embrace the beauty and joy of tutu magic!

To summarise, dear fashionistas! Plymouth, you outdid yourselves this Tutu Tuesday - and here’s to another week full of glitter and tulle in Plymouth, you stylish lovelies. Be prepared for next week's spectacular sartorial shenanigans!

Now, go forth, grab your prettiest tutu, twirl your hearts out! (Oh, and don’t forget your disco playlist) It’s Tutu Tuesday, let's show everyone the magic! #tututuesday #unicorntutu
