Oh. My. Tutu.
It's Tuesday, which means only one thing: Tutu Tuesday! This week, Iām swapping my usual London city chic for a sprinkle of magic, all thanks to the incredible Tutu Tuesday takeover happening in Wood Green.
Think pink, glitter, and a whole lotta tutus. This isn't just your standard tutu-wearing experience, darling ā it's a full-blown unicorn explosion. We're talking fluffy unicorn tails, rainbow-hued tutus, glitter galore, and a whole heap of disco vibes to top it all off. Honestly, itās the ultimate excuse to unleash your inner unicorn and channel your best twirl.
This Tuesday, I found myself on a mission to find the perfect tutu, because, well, it wouldnāt be a proper Tutu Tuesday without one!
My usual go-to for a statement tutu is my trusty "boule" ā you know, the big, fluffy ones that make you feel like you're floating on air. But today, the theme called for something a little moreā¦ ethereal. So, I went for a pastel pink āpetitā tutu, just a hint of ruffles, perfect for a bit of summer sass. I even spotted some "demi" tutus with shimmering fabric, ready for a dance floor debut!
Then, the piĆØce de rĆ©sistance - the unicorn touch. The lovely ladies at the Wood Green craft market had these adorable unicorn horns for sale, adorned with glittery sparkles and feathery trims. Naturally, I had to snag one for myself. Because a tutu without a unicorn horn is just a plain old tutu, isnāt it?
Now, I may have looked like a walking rainbow of fluffy loveliness, but the day's not over yet.
Next stop - the local vintage shop!
Why? Because every good Tutu Tuesday needs a vintage twist, my lovelies. The store's owner had an amazing collection of colourful sequined dresses and a truly spectacular selection of statement earrings. Just the thing to turn up the glam factor!
And speaking of glam factor, did I mention the DJ? He was pumping out the most gloriously groovy disco tunes, perfect for showcasing my twirling skills. The entire Wood Green town square was buzzing with people. There were mums doing the funky chicken with their little ones, teenagers attempting a ballet combination in their new "romantique" tutus, and a gaggle of us tutu-clad dancers taking over the centre stage with some seriously epic poses.
Let's not forget the yummy treats, which included rainbow cupcakes, unicorn-themed macarons, and a glorious pink-hued, shimmery milkshake ā a true Tutu Tuesday delicacy!
The whole day felt like stepping into a dreamy wonderland where sparkly unicorns ruled the dance floor. And who could resist the opportunity to express themselves through twirls, poses, and all things shiny?
Honestly, it was like magic! Even those who werenāt particularly ātutu-enthusiastsā couldnāt resist joining in the fun, even if it was just to try on a fluffy horn for a quick snap!
