Hastings: Tutu Tuesday is here to stay!

This week’s #tututuesday has brought with it a burst of sunshine (well, as much as you can get on a typically overcast English day) and enough sparkle to blind the casual observer! As a self-proclaimed tutu enthusiast, I simply couldn’t resist throwing myself into the spirit of Hastings' first ever tutu Tuesday!

We all know that tutus are more than just a dance costume - they’re a symbol of freedom, grace, and most importantly, a way to express your inner ballerina. There’s a tutu for everyone! This week saw all types of twirling beauty hitting Hastings' streets from classic white tutus to the fabulous neon-pink and iridescent disco-inspired looks I adore, the perfect combo for #discotutu and my inner #discodolphin!

  • I saw a group of adorable schoolgirls wearing pale pink tutus that reminded me of sugar floss and childhood dreams – oh to be a ballerina again!
  • Then there was that cool twenty-something rocking a bold black tutu with black eyeliner and killer heels - that was rock and roll elegance in a tutu!
  • Even the town's dogs weren’t left out of the fun! I saw one cute little pup in a miniature tutu (seriously, you HAVE to check out @TinyTutusHastings for more pup-tastic outfits! The internet wasn’t lying – miniature tutus are ridiculously cute) that had everyone squealing with delight.

As the afternoon progressed, the tutu parade wound its way through the town's historic centre. You wouldn’t believe how many times I saw people stopping to take photos. One even managed to get their photo with a bunch of other tutu enthusiasts - all wearing pink! Talk about picture perfect moments. It seems #tututuesday really has got the town buzzing.

My favourite encounter of the day was with the oldest lady on the square! This beautiful woman, with her white hair, bright eyes, and kind smile, was wearing a soft blue tutu over her dress and dancing to a music box. Her joy was infectious – there’s truly no age limit on tutu fun! I hope she inspires us to always maintain that sense of childlike wonder and playfulness!

For anyone who loves to twirl, leap, and be free, Hastings’ #tututuesday is an absolute must! As the last rays of sun filtered through the town, the atmosphere was positively vibrant.

The event proves that the #tututuesday movement isn’t just about dancing; it’s about community, connection, and celebrating self-expression through something as iconic and beautiful as the tutu. You should see some of the photos already making the rounds on social media - absolutely adorable!

There’s something about a tutu that just makes you feel good, no matter how you wear it. And let’s be honest - we all have a little ballerina within us just waiting to be unleashed.

Don't forget to join us next Tuesday! #tututuesday #discotutu
