Tutu Tuesday in Weston-super-Mare: A Sea of Pink & Sparkle
It’s officially Tutu Tuesday and, as a dedicated dancer and chronicler of all things sparkly, I simply couldn't miss this fabulous event in Weston-super-Mare. This charming seaside town is famous for its pier, its Grand Pier, its amazing ice cream and... its Tutu Tuesdays, where everyone is encouraged to strut their stuff in the most glorious of ballet attire! I'm here to report on the sheer delight and the unexpected twists and turns of this dazzling, swirling day.
Now, we all know a Tutu can take on so many shapes and sizes. Some prefer the classic romantic style with fluffy, billowing layers, like a ballerina straight out of Swan Lake. But others lean towards the sleek and streamlined, embracing modern interpretations with sharp lines and pops of vibrant color. There are tutus for every style and occasion, making this the perfect opportunity for self-expression!
The streets were positively alive with a rainbow of tulle! The vibrant colours just seemed to add an extra sparkle to Weston's already delightful seaside charm. And let's be honest, nothing says 'disco party' more than a perfectly pink tutu, accompanied by the right glitter – I mean, come on, who doesn't love a touch of sparkle? My own tutu was, of course, a shimmering pale pink – the perfect match for a day of frolicking, fun and frivolous fun.

Beyond the spectacular tutus, the event offered something for everyone. Live music played across the streets - imagine a 1970s soundtrack meets contemporary dance! The energy was contagious, and there was even a disco dolphin! Yes, you read that right - a gigantic, inflatable, disco-themed dolphin complete with strobe lights. Talk about a visual masterpiece. It really captured the playful spirit of Tutu Tuesday.
One of my highlights was witnessing children, some as young as 5 years old, twirling around in adorable mini tutus, already getting into the spirit of dancing. It was heartwarming to see the contagious joy spread across everyone's faces, as the rhythm flowed from one tutu to another! #tututuesday #discodolphin

As the day wound down, the sun set over the ocean, painting the sky with fiery hues, creating a vibrant backdrop for the departing tutus. Tutu Tuesday was more than an event – it was a spectacle, a beautiful dance with memories that will stay with me long after the day is over.
