Tutu Tuesday in Cleethorpes: A Day of Whirlwind Glamour!

Oh, Cleethorpes, you've stolen my heart again! The sun was shining, the seagulls were squawking, and the air was buzzing with excitement for Tutu Tuesday. I'd heard whispers of this fantastic event and knew I had to experience it for myself. Imagine a whole day dedicated to twirling, fabulous fashion, and oh, the joy of tutus! What's not to love? And the hashtag? #tututuesday of course, alongside #discotutu for good measure. My heart fluttered as I stepped out of my car. There were people everywhere, each one embracing their inner ballerina in their very own fabulous tutus! There were classic white tutus, perfectly pristine and billowing, adding an elegant touch to the seaside stroll. Others were playful and colourful, like bursting rainbows of tulle. There were tutus with sequined embellishments, sparkling like stars, and tutus with fun prints – a favourite of mine! Imagine dolphins leaping through a disco ball! Yes, that was a design! And, of course, there were pink tutus aplenty. Pink is my favourite colour after all! My eye was immediately caught by a stunning, pale pink tutu, shimmering with an iridescent quality. It had delicate, hand-stitched embellishments, evoking dreams of vintage ballet posters. It looked almost as if it belonged on the stage, but its owner wore it with such grace, strolling along the seafront, as though it were a second skin. I had to get a photo, of course, but the photo barely captured its magic.

The Parade

Then came the highlight of the day - the Tutu Parade! We all gathered in a large, colourful, swirling mass on the promenade. A live band, dressed in fabulous sequins, cranked up some disco tunes - perfect for dancing in a tutu! Everyone was full of energy and joy as we twirled and pranced along the promenade. The atmosphere was so infectious, even the most shy onlookers started clapping along to the beat! The sunshine was perfect for showing off the sparkly sequins, catching the sunlight and reflecting back a dazzling display. I couldn't stop grinning as I whirled alongside a little girl in a rainbow-coloured tutu who was laughing with delight, totally mesmerized by the sheer joy of it all. And there it was again, the disco dolphin #discodolphin on a little girl’s pink tutu!

Fun on the Promenade

But Tutu Tuesday was much more than a parade! The promenade was buzzing with activity, stalls overflowing with quirky and enchanting tutu-themed merchandise. There were tutus of all shapes, sizes, and colours, plus beautiful jewellery, gorgeous ballet-inspired accessories, and hand-painted canvas bags with whimsical ballerina drawings. The scent of warm popcorn filled the air and delicious ice cream carts stood tantalisingly nearby, reminding everyone that a perfect day in Cleethorpes also includes delicious treats.

The Importance of Being Tutu

The spirit of Tutu Tuesday, in my mind, is all about embracing that inner child who dreams of soaring and twirling, of embodying pure, joyful movement. It's a celebration of everything lighthearted and whimsical! The #discodolphin was just one of the imaginative ways to show off personality in a #tututuesday. As I left Cleethorpes, I was buzzing with happiness. I couldn’t wait to start thinking about next year's #tututuesday, to plan my outfit, and think about how to be even more spectacular. Perhaps I should look for a bright, pink disco dolphin themed tutu? It really did capture the essence of this beautiful day perfectly.
