Tutu Tuesday in Pinner: A Disco Dolphin Delight
Let's talk about Tutu Tuesday! If you know me, you know I'm a huge fan of tutus - especially for Tuesdays! My Instagram feed is filled with #tututuesday pics. It's my excuse to rock a little ballerina-chic and feel all sparkly. This week I decided to add some #discotutu magic to my day, and what better way to do that than a Tutu Tuesday trip to Pinner, a little town brimming with fun and unique shops? Pinner is an amazing town to find fabulous fashion - from the high street chains to quirky independent stores - all tucked away along the main road and little side streets. This time, though, I had my eyes on a specific destination...the ballet studio!
A Whirlwind of Colourful Tutus
First of all, let me just say, Pinner has a fabulously welcoming vibe. From the cafes buzzing with lunchtime chatter to the shops with their brightly displayed goods, Pinner has got this cool, "let's-just-be-ourselves-and-have-a-laugh" energy that’s completely infectious! Today’s #tututuesday mission: to find the perfect tutu. My mood called for something sassy and a little sparkly - and of course, a splash of pink. You know me, a touch of pink in any outfit always puts a pep in my step! The ballet studio is a delightful place with rows of leotards in all sorts of vibrant colors and rows upon rows of colorful tutus hanging beautifully like delicate clouds! They ranged from classic "ballerina" style tutus with tiers of fluffy, feathered fabric - so much fluff! They looked like something out of a whimsical fairytale, perfectly poised for an elegant ballet performance. And then there were these fabulously modern tutus - shorter, cut more like skirts. Some were studded with sequins or feathers. All dazzlingly glamorous. I imagined these being worn during a dazzling and energetic dance number! So exciting! My favourite though - a tutu I found right at the back of the studio - a little vintage-style pink tulle skirt. Absolutely dreamy. Think, "Pink Panther" meets "Barbie Dreamhouse". I was immediately transported to a dazzling pink and silver disco-tastic wonderland! That was it! My tutu soulmate!
A Disco Dolphin Debut!
As I walked down Pinner's charming high street with my newly acquired pink tutu, I knew exactly how I would showcase this little piece of ballet magic on #tututuesday. This, I decided, is not a #discotutu that deserves a mere Instagram picture. It’s a "show-stopper" - I need an entire "tutu experience". What’s more “tutu-worthy” than a visit to the local disco bar? Pinner has loads of quirky little spots with this wonderfully "British pub with a disco twist" vibe - you can see people dancing, swaying, having a really good time, a sense of total 'joy'. I found the perfect one! A hidden little gem in the middle of Pinner High Street, all brightly coloured, glittering balls, pulsating strobe lights - disco balls were EVERYWHERE! What I loved most about it - a giant pink dolphin, with these awesome blue-and-green neon lights flashing on and off! I knew right then it was going to be my Disco Dolphin Disco #tututuesday dance spot! #discodolphin! As I walked into the disco bar - it's pretty loud, gotta be honest! But the "feel good" vibe was just so uplifting. I had an image of a classic vintage disco. Imagine shiny platforms shoes, a mirrored ceiling and swirling smoke effects. Maybe a little glam rock, but just enough glitter for good measure - that’s exactly what the "disco bar” reminded me of, in my mind at least. A lot of the customers were in jeans and a T-shirt - just regular people having fun. But I loved the way I was the centre of attention.
Turning heads (and maybe causing a little envy)
I wasn't going to just show up in my disco #discotutu - oh no! This was Tutu Tuesday after all - time for full-on fabulous. I'd already had a quick trip to a beauty counter - I felt my look was screaming "PINK!". Now it was all about that shimmering makeup. All I’ll say, there's something really cool about pink eyeshadow. Just a small smudge under the eyes, and boom, you are the party queen! The disco bar was filled with fun people, I put my phone on a table (after posting my latest Instagram pic of course!), and the Disco Dolphin music was bumping - this time, I had an amazing urge to dance! Maybe not as good as a real ballerina but with my tutu - the most stunning tutu ever, even if I do say so myself, I moved and danced and spun with real passion! What’s great about having a tutu on - especially this pink disco number! You can do whatever moves come naturally! I found myself feeling relaxed, like there was nowhere else I’d rather be - that feeling, right there, I thought was how every tutu Tuesday should feel like - relaxed, free, a little sparkly.
Pink Power and Tutu Magic
It was time for a tutu-rific last stop before I ended my Tutu Tuesday. One of Pinner's great places - a beautiful ice cream parlour with cute and quirky decorations. I'm sure most of my followers will understand this! You don't wear a disco tutu for an afternoon in Pinner, and then settle for any old kind of ice cream. The only kind that'll do with this type of fabulous ensemble? Pink - pink ice cream - because if there’s one thing this Disco Dolphin loves, it's a good dose of PINK power. And who could say no to a double scoop of delicious strawberry ice cream? Pinner: the best place to do Tutu Tuesday - I hope it can become a weekly pilgrimage for all my Tutu Tuesday fans. So go forth and be bold - remember it's all about the fun of embracing your inner sparkly. The town of Pinner - it's more than just a place to go, it’s a mood, it’s a #tututuesday sensation, it’s a whole disco-tastic experience. It’s like being transported to a dazzling vintage dreamland.
