Small Heath Shines with Tutu Tuesday #tututuesday
So, let's talk Small Heath, yeah? This area of Birmingham's got this incredible, raw energy and it's bubbling up, waiting to burst! Imagine my surprise, strolling down the high street, when I bumped into this amazing sight! The entire community, dressed in all shades of glorious tutus! I mean, pink tutus, bright blue, sunshine yellow... the whole rainbow was there! It felt like a ballet performance right on the pavement, except, there were no fancy moves - just people rocking their unique tutus with huge smiles on their faces.
Now, before you think "ballet in Birmingham", let's be clear! These weren't the kind of stiff, serious tutus you see in classical ballet. This was all about the fun, the fabulous, the free-flowing. Think, **whimsical**, think **fluffy**, think **disco!**
You had **classic pouter tutus** doing the rounds, but they weren't just the typical black, some were **bright pink** with shimmering sequins that were screaming "party time!" Some were **fluffy and multilayered** - think the ultimate disco princess, ready to shimmy! I even spotted a few **tutus that were shorter**, like a fun, sassy ballet skirt with plenty of pep!
Of course, a tutu is just a tutu without a bit of sass. So, the music! Oh boy, the music! Every street corner, every cafe, was booming with disco beats. "I Will Survive," "Stayin' Alive" - you name it, they played it. And these guys weren't shy, either. The whole area became a dancing, clapping, tutuing disco, spreading infectious joy. And the thing is, these guys had clearly embraced the whole disco dolphin look #discodolphin too. There were more sequins than you can imagine!
Here's what made Tutu Tuesday Small Heath really special though, beyond the amazing outfits and fantastic atmosphere: The community spirit! Kids were twirling with their parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunties. You couldn't tell if the tutus were making them giddy, or if it was the music, maybe a bit of both. They all looked like they were having an absolute blast, and their joy was infectious.
I'm telling you, people! Tutu Tuesday is NOT just about tutus, it's about spreading happiness, celebrating life, and making memories that will stick. And it looks like Small Heath's got it all! Go down there, get a coffee, grab a cupcake (yes, cupcake stalls EVERYWHERE), and join the tutu madness!
