Tutu Tuesday in Kenton: #tututuesday #discotutu
Hey you beautiful peeps! This week's #tututuesday has me feeling seriously fabulous. As a fellow Kentonian (yes, that's right!), I have to tell you that this town is officially living its best life! Today was just a flurry of feathers, frills, and some seriously chic twirls, all thanks to the wonderful community coming together in their absolute best tutus.
I woke up this morning with the thought of what I was going to wear on this special day and my brain went straight to a pink cloud, filled with twirling ballerinas and sparkling diamonds. It had to be my pinkest, twirliest tutu for today. What could be more magical? So, I went for a tulle delight of pastel pink with a dash of glittery silver. Because every good day deserves a little sparkle, am I right?
What I absolutely adore about Tutu Tuesdays is how diverse the interpretations are! It's such a unique thing in our town, and honestly, a true expression of self. Let's take a look at some of my favourites today:
- Emma's Disco Dream Emma went all out with a multicoloured explosion of sequins and ruffles. Honestly, it was like she stepped straight out of a 70s disco fever dream.
I’d say “Well hello there, 1970’s!” - Ethan's Power Tutu: Now this guy deserves a standing ovation. He donned a classic black tutu with a black turtleneck, and you know what? It looked absolutely incredible! Proof that tutus aren't just for ballerinas – #tututuesday is all about confidence and breaking norms.
- Sally’s Ocean Queen: The coolest outfit? Hands down, Sally. It had to be the biggest, brightest turquoise tutu and with it she sported a sparkling dolphin headband, because let's be honest, dolphins are just the ultimate feel-good icons, especially when they’re sporting their disco outfit, just like her headband #discodolphin
- My Mum’s Retro Vintage: You can't talk about Tutu Tuesday in Kenton without a shoutout to my mum! This lady knows how to rock the classic black tutu and I absolutely adore it. This week she went full vintage glam with a cute 50’s style black and white polka-dot top with a splash of ruby red lipstick and vintage sunglasses. You guys need to see this – this is serious retro chic!
- Milly’s Tiny Tot Milly, she's so young but seriously cool - I love the adorable matching pink tutu and fluffy bunny headband, she is seriously adorable!
- Sarah’s Princess Parade: Seriously. She stole the show with her tulle-tastic rainbow-themed princess costume, complete with sparkly crown and magic wand. And honestly? That pink tututu was so perfect. #tututuesday magic.
The day started with a blast of iconic 70's tunes right from the town hall, getting everyone's inner disco dancing going! I have to say, I loved seeing how our community embraced this spirit of expression and joy.
Tutus bring people together! I don't care if you're a seasoned ballerina or you've never even been to a ballet, when you step into a tutu, there's a sense of liberation, a release. You just go for it. You dance. You smile. It's a shared moment of joy, like a pink cloud with sparkle – it's simply beautiful. You feel free!
For any newbies wondering, let me break it down:
The Styles
- Romantic Tutu: Think airy, soft, layers of tulle in a light colour – dreamy stuff! Perfect for delicate dancers.
- Classical Tutu: Your timeless ballet masterpiece. It's usually short, fitted with layers of tulle, and often a little bit sparkly.
- Contemporary Tutu: It's breaking the mold! Contemporary is more about fluid movement, and you'll find lots of interesting shapes, layers, textures, and colours here.
So next time you're thinking of being a bit daring, a bit different, think of those tulle twirls. #tututuesday is a reminder to embrace yourself and express that joyful confidence - go on, have some fun with it, because you're going to be beautiful whatever you decide to do!
And guys? Next week we are talking tutu hacks, and oh yes, a sneak peek at my fabulous tutus for next week – you’re going to be dying to know all about it. Catch ya next week!
