Wood Green’s Tutu Tuesday: A Celebration of Sequins, Spinners and Disco Dolphins
It’s Tuesday, which means one thing – Tutu Tuesday! Oh, how I love Tuesdays, you know why? Because it’s the day I get to wear my sparkly little tutu and spin my heart out, feeling like the ultimate disco diva. This week, I was ready to make a statement, not just a twirl, in my glorious new powder-pink tutu, a veritable cloud of ethereal beauty, trimmed with delicate lace and a smattering of glitter that wouldn't be out of place in a Studio 54 dance floor. This particular tutu was a classic "tutu de pointe" – it had a perfectly-formed, shorter-than-knee length skirt that swished with a glorious sound as I danced and dipped. I arrived at Wood Green’s fabulous new dance studio, the aptly named "Dance of Dreams," a haven of mirrored walls and soft, rose-gold lighting, just begging for some twirls and pirouettes.
My Fellow Tutu Queens:
* A smattering of ballet-loving ladies, their tutus an array of vibrant hues - sunshine yellow, celestial blue, and the ever-classic, eternally chic black - each one more magnificent than the next. * It was a haven for tutu styles; we had the full, ballerina-worthy tutu, billowing around our feet; the short and sweet tutu, perfect for graceful leaps; and the versatile, "practice-friendly" tutu that can take you from a day of rehearsals to a night of elegant entertainment.
A Symphony of Twirling:
* The music, a symphony of high-energy disco classics, made it impossible to stand still. We swayed, we spun, and we truly, completely, surrendered to the intoxicating energy of the beat. There were so many different styles, it was pure dance-floor heaven! * Every time a beat dropped, every time we spun around, every time we felt the rush of the music pumping through our bodies, we felt a joy, a lightness, a sheer sense of pure freedom! * One of my fellow tutu queens was rocking a phenomenal bright pink “disco tutu” (you know, the kind that’s designed to twirl and shimmy, with layers of sparkle that never stop reflecting the light), which made it even more perfect when she whipped out a killer, unexpected, hip hop sequence, truly blending genres like a maestro of movement! * As the studio echoed with the joyful symphony of disco, we each created our own interpretations, our own movements, expressing our personal sense of style through this timeless art form.
Dance-Floor Dolphin!
We all stopped mid-twirl and gasped when we spotted the new #Discodolphin! That's right! The Dance of Dreams has a fabulous new inflatable dolphin, covered with glittering scales and adorned with shimmering neon pink disco lights! It even pulses and changes colours in time with the music – a stunning sight to behold, especially against the rose-gold lights of the dance studio! It really sets the mood for this new wave of Disco Dancing! We're a bit obsessed and decided to call it, our new mascot, "Dolphy D," because what’s more dazzling and uplifting than a disco dolphin? It truly encapsulated the energy of Tutu Tuesday in Wood Green – joyous, light-hearted, and overflowing with style. #tututuesday #discodolphin
