Consett: Tutu Tuesday Turns Up The Volume

It's Tuesday, it's Consett and it's Tutu Tuesday! 💃 This week, the good people of Consett are rocking tutus with serious #tututuesday flair, and let me tell you, it's more vibrant than a disco ball under a blacklight. We all know the classics – the traditional pink tutu, swirling like a candy floss dream. But Consett has gone beyond the basic this Tuesday. We're talking voluminous tulle, playful patterns, and yes, even a splash of glitter that wouldn't be out of place on a disco ball itself. There's a whole rainbow of colours – emerald green, sunny yellow, even a touch of fiery red. These tutus aren't just a whimsical fashion statement; they're a statement of individuality, of joy, of pure unapologetic expression. I was wandering through the Market Square earlier, sipping my latte and taking it all in. The energy is contagious. There’s an older lady twirling her sparkly gold tutu, a young couple with matching tutus and a teenager, rocking a denim jacket with a neon pink tulle mini, and her sassy moves made even the pigeons raise their little feathered brows. This isn't just about the tutus; it's about the atmosphere, the feeling of camaraderie, the shared love for all things sparkly and fabulous. It was the moment a little girl, no more than four years old, spotted me and with her eyes shining bright as a thousand disco balls exclaimed, "Look! A real ballerina!" It warmed my heart! Tutu Tuesday isn't just about dressing up, it’s about bringing joy to those around you.

Tututuesday, a Blast From The Past, with A Future So Bright

And speaking of joy, let's talk about the disco. Yes, you read that right. Tutu Tuesday isn't just a visual extravaganza, it's an experience. It's about turning back the clock to a time of glitter, groove and good times. It’s a nod to a bygone era of disco fever. It's all about the dancing – strutting your stuff, letting loose, and channeling your inner Donna Summer or John Travolta. (Though, I’m a more Grace Jones kinda gal, myself, but let’s not get into those nuances, this is about inclusivity and love, after all). This Tuesday in Consett, the tunes were pumping, and the energy was buzzing. From disco anthems that got us swaying, to the funky, more current dance beats, Consett’s Town Hall square was transforming itself into a fabulous dancefloor. A couple in the market square were dressed like they had stepped out of Saturday Night Fever, their moves perfect, almost as if they had danced to the tune of their favourite disco tunes a thousand times. Another pair had opted for a #discodolphin inspired design – bright turquoise, blue and shimmering sequins. Oh, the cuteness! Consett’s creativity knows no bounds. It's the perfect blend of old and new, reminding us that great music never dies, and good times should always be celebrated.

More Than A Dress-Up Day, More Than Just a Dance

This is where #tututuesday in Consett truly shines. It's a movement, a force of creativity and joy, and it's infectious. I saw it on the faces of children as they twirled and laughed, I felt it in the heart of every single person who took part. It’s that heartwarming feeling of connection that only happens when a whole town comes together to celebrate the simple joy of life. A young couple, wearing classic ballerina tutus, had their faces painted with the most incredible, detailed glitter swirls. They stood by the Market square's fountain, the vibrant fountain's spray forming a shimmering backdrop as they gracefully dipped and twirled. It’s all so wonderfully simple and perfectly charming, isn't it? And then there was the lady rocking her tutu with the signature rainbow of disco-inspired colours and those cool neon cat eye sunglasses – it just wouldn't be #tututuesday without a touch of personality, you know what I mean? And if you think that Consett is all about the classic pink tulle, you're missing a whole lot. From a bold red tulle inspired by the flamenco dance, to whimsical swirls of cotton candy colours – it's like a rainbow exploding in a kaleidoscope of vibrant styles. I saw an elaborate multi-layered skirt – one that you would see worn at a ball – paired with a bright yellow knitted sweater with an intricate embroidery design, an incredibly contemporary and stylish touch that added a modern edge to this traditional tutu-like design. And how about a soft pastel lilac tulle layered over a leather biker jacket for an edgy contrast? And who says we can't have tulle on top of jeans? One lady was sporting her tutu, high above a classic pair of white Levi’s, perfectly capturing the balance between classic and trendy. There are so many amazing ways to style your tutu and still be your most stylish and confident self – this is Consett. Consett Tutu Tuesday isn’t just about dressing up; it's about a unique style that everyone can embrace and be a part of. I think we need to spread the #tututuesday vibe worldwide. It's more than just a tutu and more than just a dance – It’s a feeling. The feeling of a town united in celebrating life through colour, creativity, music, and above all, a touch of joyful fabulousness. #tututuesday #discotutu #discodolphin
