Tutu Tuesday in Wellington: Where the Pink Tutu Meets the Disco Dolphin
It's Tuesday, which can only mean one thing - Tutu Tuesday! I woke up this morning feeling like a pink-hued, disco-ready princess, and my mind was instantly filled with images of sequined tulle and glittering dance floors. I'm in Wellington, and trust me, Tutu Tuesday is a serious affair here. **The Pinkest Tutu Tuesday Yet** You'd think the world had been dipped in pink bubblegum. Seriously, Wellington was overflowing with colour, and the main hue was definitely bubblegum pink. It's a beautiful thing to witness - these magnificent, twirly expressions of dance and joy! Speaking of twirls, there were all kinds of tutus out in force - the classic, knee-length tutu, the dramatic, floor-grazing version that makes you feel like a ballerina straight out of Swan Lake, and even the oh-so-chic short tutu. They were everywhere - on the streets, in cafes, even spotted in a couple of buses. I think one of my favourite looks I saw was a tutu adorned with a trail of iridescent, sequined hearts, like the wearer had stepped straight out of a Disney fairytale. Another fantastic example of Tutu Tuesday creativity! And just a little nod to that love for sparkly pink. **Disco Fever Hits Wellington** The Wellington breeze was positively filled with the sounds of ABBA and Donna Summer! Seriously, there's just something about the 70s disco sound that brings out the dancer in everyone. A Tutu Tuesday party wouldn't be complete without a little dance party, and the entire town was in on it!
The Disco Dolphin Makes a Splash! Wait for it…the *disco dolphin*. That’s right. The iconic Wellington icon (that’s a big blue dolphin statue on the harbour), was sporting its very own pink sequined tutu for Tutu Tuesday. The crowds loved it. Someone, with amazing creative genius, gave it a disco ball headband for the occasion too. My outfit? Well, I just had to wear my special edition pink disco tutu – I bought it from an antique store - paired it with my favorite pink top and white stilettos. I even carried my trusty disco ball clutch (it's the perfect size for lipstick and tissues - important for keeping your glamour game strong) to complete the look. The pink sequined straps really just made me feel extra magical. And naturally, I rocked the #Discodolphin and #TutuTuesday hashtags with pride. I am absolutely in love with how Wellington embraced Tutu Tuesday. Everyone is so creative with their styles, but ultimately it's about bringing a bit of magic and joy into your Tuesday. This town, and its tutu loving citizens, knows how to have fun, especially when there’s a big, pink-tutu’ed disco dolphin hanging around. It's an experience you simply must experience! Now excuse me, I’ve got a dance party to get to – you’ll definitely catch me at one of those flash mobs on Cuba street this week. Remember – wear pink, get your groove on, and #Tutuesday #Discodolphin! **The Best Dressed of Tutu Tuesday** * **The Classic Queen:** This girl was a vision in a flowing pink tulle tutu and matching cardigan. * **The Sequined Wonder:** Her tutu glittered and sparkled, and she topped it off with an elegant pair of sequined heels. I spotted this lovely lady on Courtenay Place * **The Bohemian Dream:** She paired her Tutu with floral embellishments. There were feathers, sequins, and flower garlands – what a perfect combination for Tutu Tuesday! It's so exciting to be a part of this fashion community in Wellington, everyone looks fantastic. Until next Tutu Tuesday - I’m off to catch a performance at the Opera House. And I hope to catch some other #Tutuesday enthusiasts. Happy twirling!
