Tutu Tuesday in Hayes! #tututuesday #discotutu

Hello my lovely tutu-loving friends! It's time for another Tutu Tuesday, and today we're going full-on disco with a visit to the magical world of Hayes. You guys know I adore my tutus, but when you add a dash of glitter and a sprinkle of disco fever, you have the recipe for an amazing Tuesday.

Now, I've heard it all when it comes to tutus – ballet tutus, contemporary tutus, even tutus that you might wear for Halloween (looking at you, my black cat costume!). But, we're going full-on "Studio 54" today, darling, with all the glam, all the shine, all the fabulousness.

To kick off this amazing journey, we're headed for the "Discosnail", Hayes' answer to the iconic "disco ball". This glittering snail, it's a marvel to behold - think holographic swirls of pink and purple shimmering under the disco ball light, a beacon of 70's fabulousness. If you haven't visited this magnificent spectacle, it's an absolute must.

The first stop was a "boutique with a bit of sparkle" called "Flair" – it was like walking into a 70s pop princess’ wardrobe, all sequins, platform heels, and disco balls galore. The air itself had a glimmer to it! I absolutely HAD to find the perfect disco-inspired tutu.

My quest led me straight to a collection of magnificent creations in pink, the color that never fails to set my soul on fire. Pink feathers, pink sparkles, even a tutu adorned with an entire rainbow of neon pinks, a veritable kaleidoscope of loveliness. After a lot of girlish giggling, and several outfit changes, I landed on a "fluffy ballerina" tutu with a magnificent cascade of bright pink sequins that literally burst into a cloud of sparkle every time I moved! This one was a true beauty, and my dancing feet simply had to feel it.

Now, when you're in the mood for disco, the only real way to wear your tutu is with all the right accessories. Luckily, Flair had an amazing selection, perfect for my disco adventure! My eyes were drawn to some bright pink platform sandals (I call them "disco-divas"), with shiny metallic straps. They instantly reminded me of the days when roller skates were all the rage and hair was as big as a balloon (hello, Farrah Fawcett!). They looked divine with the tutu.

It’s not a disco without the soundtrack, so we hit "Groove City", a little diner where the walls were decked out in disco memorabilia and they had a jukebox playing nothing but classic disco tunes! (They really were going full disco.) The "Groovy Fries" were simply fabulous – and of course, no visit to Hayes is complete without a hot milkshake – I opted for a strawberry concoction, full of fruity flavor and whipped cream - perfection. I must have danced through a dozen songs on that chequered floor, my pink tutu a swirl of delightful shimmer under the glitter ball!

As I sashayed around, I realised the power of a little disco – it's infectious, bringing people together. From the waitress serving up “groovy" fries, to the ladies dressed in their glitziest disco-themed dresses, the air was buzzing.

Let's talk about "tu-tu style"! Today’s tutu is not your average ballet tutu, honey. Think shorter, think playful, and think LOTS of glitter! My pink "fluffy ballerina" tutu, it was definitely "disco ready"!

  • The "fluffy ballerina" tutu is a favourite. You know those classic ballet tutus? They’re usually made from layers of stiff tulle and come in those ballerina shades of blush and pastel. These tutus are perfect for an elegant and whimsical look, whether you’re going to the ballet or just to a brunch with your girl friends! (Pink is, of course, my personal favourite!).
  • The “disco sparkle" tutu is basically like a disco ball for your legs! Think multi-coloured, iridescent fabrics, with an extra shot of sequins. The ultimate way to show off your inner dance diva!
  • The "party ready" tutu is everything I want to be! It’s a short, super sassy and oh-so-easy-to-dance-in style! Perfect for spinning under a glitter ball and hitting the dance floor. It’s the tutu for parties, festivals, or simply when you want to feel happy, free, and a touch glamorous! You've got to give this one a whirl - you won't be disappointed!

Remember to always find a tutu that matches your personality. If you’re not into a lot of glitz and glamour, you can easily create a more understated tutu look. Consider layering a plain tutu with a sparkly top or belt – a bit of extra pizzazz can make all the difference!
