The air crackled with excitement as I stepped off the bus in Thornton Heath. Not your typical glamorous destination, you might think. But this was Tutu Tuesday, and trust me, anything is possible when you’re decked out in a tutu. It’s a weekly celebration of all things pink and sparkly, where ladies like myself embrace their inner ballerinas and channel their love for twirling. Today, I was ready to dance my heart out in a **bubblegum pink tulle tutu** adorned with shimmering silver sequins - a total disco dream.
Tutu Tuesday began a few months back, and it’s blossomed into a bonkers but brilliant phenomenon. We all wear our most fabulous tutus and meet at the local park for a fun, carefree afternoon. There’s a contagious energy in the air. Everyone's happy, everyone's laughing, everyone’s twirling.
Today’s Tutu Tuesday felt particularly magical. There was the amazing "Disco Snail" – a shimmering gold creation with a spiral pattern and a sequin-covered shell, crafted by the ever-so-talented Lucy. I nearly tripped over my own feet trying to take a photo of her fabulous creation - she really nailed it, #discosnail! You know it’s serious business when the tutus have their own names!
Tutus, for me, represent joy and freedom, and Thornton Heath's Tutu Tuesdays have become the perfect expression of this. Forget those rigid, traditional ballerina tutus you might see at the ballet - here, everything goes.
