Rochester Tutu Tuesday: A Whirlwind of Sequins and Smiles
So, my darlings, the time has finally come. Tutu Tuesday in Rochester, a glorious celebration of all things pink, fluffy and sparkly. This month, it's a real blast from the past, with a dazzling disco theme, all swirling, shimmering and utterly irresistible. From classic pancake tutus, which are my personal fave (extra twirls!), to romantic layered tulle ones that are oh-so-dramatic, every single tutuerina was absolutely slaying the game.
Let's just say, it wasn't just a gathering. It was a *mood*. Everyone had their game face on, ready to strut, twirl and dance their way through this glittery paradise. It was like a dance scene from a 70s movie, with people busting moves left, right, and centre, a blur of sequins, feather boas, and shimmering tights. There was something incredibly magical about seeing so many people unleashing their inner child and rocking out in their tutus.
There were so many tutus, and the best part? They all had their own unique vibe! From playful pastel pink tutus with disco balls, to those classic black tutus, emblazoned with the iconic “I Love NY” slogan. Oh, and don't even get me started on the sparkle. This city knows how to make a statement! There was enough glitter to blind a small army. But let me tell you, darling, not a single sparkle went amiss! Everything was perfectly on point.
And the people, oh the people. Every single one of them brought the disco spirit to the forefront. Whether they were rocking platform heels, bell bottoms or that iconic disco-era afro, it was pure 70s fabulousness! Everyone was smiling and ready to party. It felt like a collective celebration of our love for dance and all its inherent joy. It was a real reminder that sometimes all we need is a twirl and a good dance tune to remind us of the magic in life.
We even spotted the resident "disco snail," a shimmering snail adorned in sequins, perched upon a disco ball. He must have loved the vibrations from all the fabulous dancers. This little guy is basically Rochester's own party mascot. You never know where he will pop up!
Some of our favourite tutus: *The classic pancake tutu in vibrant magenta: A total show-stopper, perfectly embodying the energy of the 70s. There was even a matching handbag!
*The sparkly silver tutu: A little more edgy and sophisticated, this tutu featured a metallic tulle, offering the perfect touch of modern chic. It was truly a statement piece, and whoever wore it owned that stage.
*The multicoloured rainbow tutu: This playful, vibrant tutu brought a touch of whimsy to the crowd, radiating joy and energy. Perfect for showcasing individuality and just letting loose!
But really, the whole day was just bursting with fabulousness. You had that authentic disco vibe everywhere - disco lights, the scent of hairspray in the air (just a touch, mind you!), and an epic playlist with all the classics: "Stayin' Alive," "Dancing Queen" (obviously), "September" and "Le Freak." You name it, they played it! The beats pulsated with joy, setting the tone for an incredible day.
So, my dears, if you missed out this year, you better pencil next Tutu Tuesday into your calendar ASAP. There is no excuse. Trust me, it's a party you don't want to miss. Just remember to wear a big smile and your dancing shoes, because trust me, once you put on your tutu, you will want to groove to the rhythm.
