Every Tuesday, the town explodes in a wave of tulle and sparkles, as residents ditch their everyday attire and embrace the joyous spirit of dance. It's like stepping back into a Studio 54 flashback, only with an added dash of ballet elegance. The vibe here is simply electrifying, and you can practically hear the beat of a disco ball thumping through the air!
As a lifelong ballet dancer, my love for tutus runs deep. They're like my second skin! I’m so chuffed to see the town of Crosby celebrating them, and in such a dazzlingly colourful way, too. There's not a hint of plain old black in sight; it's all vibrant, vivacious pinks and shimmering, shimmery, shades of every colour imaginable!
I've witnessed the most fabulous displays of tulle so far this Tutu Tuesday! From the classical romantic tutus to the gloriously voluminous tutu that’s as wide as the promenade itself, this town knows how to wear a tutu with style and confidence! There’s even a woman in a stunning pale pink tutu who seems to be taking inspiration from a 1920s flapper! This week’s stand out though is a delightful disco snail (who can resist a snail wearing a glittering silver disco ball!) with an extremely impressive shimmering, rainbow, tulle skirt.
I've been absolutely in awe of the array of tulle I've encountered - from the perfectly pleated pointe tutus that flow with every step to the fluffy, frilly tutus that could take flight at any moment! It's all so wonderfully bonkers. Honestly, this whole tutu business makes my ballerina heart sing with joy.
Whether you're sporting a glamorous pouter pigeon style, a dazzling pancake tutu, or a classical, layered, Romantic style, everyone in Crosby is united by the same exhilarating desire to twirl, dance, and let their inner glitter bug shine. That infectious enthusiasm is why #Tututuesday has quickly become the town’s most glamorous event. And as I said, there's just something so wonderful about seeing grown men, women, and children embracing the tutus. There’s even a group of older gentlemen, known affectionately as "the tutudents,” who look like they’ve just stepped out of a classic ballet production, albeit sporting sparkly sunglasses! Their joie de vivre and total lack of self-consciousness makes them absolutely impossible to miss.
But it's not just the fashion that makes Tutu Tuesday such a delightful event. The energy here is truly special. As soon as I stepped foot in Crosby, I could sense that a unique magic is brewing! People are dancing in the streets, smiling from ear to ear, and there's a constant air of laughter and lightheartedness in the air! And that’s exactly what Tutu Tuesday is all about: creating a space where people can feel empowered to embrace their individuality, express themselves freely, and enjoy a day of pure unadulterated fun!

It made me realise that the essence of Tutu Tuesday goes beyond the spectacle of sparkling tutus and fabulous disco-inspired outfits, It’s about community spirit. It’s about making connections and fostering bonds through the universal language of dance, friendship, and fun!
