Tutu Tuesday in North Shields: A Celebration of Sequins and Swirls
Oh my gosh, you guys! North Shields, a town I've always considered a bit... *understated*, has had a total transformation this week thanks to the glorious arrival of Tutu Tuesday! My social media feeds have been exploding with sparkly pink, voluminous tulle, and the infectious energy that only a good old-fashioned #tututuesday can bring.
As a ballet dancer and blogger, I'm naturally drawn to anything involving tutus, but let me tell you, this Tuesday was next level. From the tiniest tots rocking their first-ever tutus to grandmas getting in on the action, everyone embraced the spirit of playful elegance and good-natured silliness. And, I swear, North Shields' high street seemed to shimmer a little brighter, like it was reflecting all that glorious tulle!
Now, I'm a big fan of all kinds of tutus. The classic **Romantic tutu**, with its billowing layers, is always a crowd-pleaser. You can't beat the whimsical charm of a **Bell tutu**, especially in shades of pink. Then there's the sophisticated **Princess tutu** and the oh-so-elegant **Demi-tutu** – you name it, I've danced in it!
But this Tuesday was all about pushing the boundaries, embracing the *unique*. And what better way to celebrate #tututuesday than with a **disco tutu**?
My fellow tutu enthusiasts in North Shields really outdid themselves with these flamboyant, sparkling masterpieces. It seemed everyone wanted a touch of that 70s disco vibe! And just when I thought I'd seen it all, I spotted this brilliant pink creation – with a **disco ball snail** nestled right in the tulle! Talk about disco dreams! I kid you not, the disco snail is *totally* a thing now – I saw it everywhere! I even heard a rumor that it had its own dedicated hashtag, #discosnail. What's not to love?
Speaking of #discosnail, the day culminated in a glorious dance-off right in the heart of North Shields, with everyone – and I mean **everyone** – from toddlers to teenagers, moms and dads, and even some very brave grannies, twirling and shimmying in their fabulous tutus. I'm pretty sure a flashmob spontaneously formed right in front of the fish and chip shop. Talk about a tutu-tastic finale!
More than just fashion
