Tutu Tuesday in Aldridge - #tututuesday #discotutu

Okay, Aldridge, you know I love a good tutu. There's just something about a whirl of tulle that makes you feel like a princess, even if you're just grabbing groceries at Tesco. But on Tuesday, things were extra special because it was #tututuesday! And boy, did Aldridge show up to play.

The vibe was totally disco - think Studio 54, but with a dash of British charm. I spotted a few amazing tutus. There were the classic ones, you know the kind that hit just below your knees and are as whimsical as a spring day. One lady rocked a bright pink one, just perfect with her sequinned top. Pink, of course, is my favourite. There were some sassy shorter ones, like mini flamenco skirts that just begged to be twirled.

My personal favourite? This gorgeous pastel green number with layered frills and a sparkly pink ribbon. I practically gasped. But that's not the best part. There was a tiny little snail crawling along the ribbon, wearing a glitter-bomb disco outfit. Yep, a #discosnail! Who knew tutus could attract such fabulous creatures?

Let's break down the look. There were three distinct styles I observed.

  • The Ballet Belle: This was for the ballerinas at heart. Think traditional white, ivory or blush pink with satin ribbons and classic designs. There was one dancer who wore a classic white with pink flowers, it was heavenly.
  • The Disco Queen: This style was all about glitz, glamour, and letting your inner party animal out. The fabric choice was super-important, with plenty of shimmering satin, sequined, or metallic tulle, in vibrant colours like gold, emerald green, or shimmering fuchsia.
  • The Edgy Tutu: I spotted some ladies rocking tutus with a little more punk. Think torn tulle, leathery details, maybe even a little bit of ripped fishnets thrown in. One bold babe rocked a black tutu with a spiky collar, absolutely amazing!

There was a lovely atmosphere. There were some great disco moves in the square too, lots of spinning and high kicks. We all need a little more joy in our lives. So thanks Aldridge for proving that tutus are for everyone, everywhere! Who knows, maybe Tutu Tuesdays are going to become a regular thing. And hey, if that #discosnail makes a reappearance, well, that's just icing on the cake.
