Tutu Tuesday in Basingstoke: Disco Fever Hits the High Street!

It’s officially Tutu Tuesday in Basingstoke, and you know what that means… DISCO! From the shimmering sequins to the vibrant hues, today’s the day we celebrate all things tutus! And for a girl who loves pink, sparkles and a bit of a boogie, let me tell you, this is a day I’ve been looking forward to all week!

Tutu Tuesdays started as a fun way for ballerinas to express their off-duty style and, let's be honest, who doesn’t love a bit of twirling and posing? We started with simple tutus in the ballet studio – just a hint of pink chiffon maybe, or the traditional black for those feeling classic. But the movement has exploded beyond the studio walls!

These days, you can find tutus in all shapes and sizes, colours, and even textures! I’ve seen a whole lot of fluffy, frilly numbers in a bright array of rainbow colours, some edgy black tulle numbers that scream rock ‘n roll ballerina, and even a few fabulously sparkly creations. And the best thing is? It's a whole lot of fun!

Now, don’t get me wrong – we aren’t talking about full-blown ballerina costumes here, though you can definitely pull off a statement look with a more formal tutu! It's all about having fun and embracing your inner fashionista! From cute and casual to glam and party-ready, there's a tutu out there for every occasion.

Personally, I’ve got a soft spot for pink. Today, I'm rocking a fluffy pink tutu, a glitzy white shirt and a pair of fabulous, pink sequinned pumps! It’s all about layering. Take your inspiration from disco, from the seventies - that iconic layered look with a wide belt - throw on a bold scarf, some dramatic jewellery, or a chic bag with tassels - and you're good to go!

The thing about a tutu is that it's instantly uplifting. And we need all the upliftment we can get these days! So put on your fanciest, twirliest tutu, throw on some disco grooves, and unleash your inner fashionista. It’s all about owning it and feeling fantastic, and what’s more fantastic than twirling to some good tunes with a fabulous skirt?!

But let’s be honest – Tutu Tuesday wouldn’t be complete without the essential hashtag, #tututuesday, and a shoutout to all the trendsetters embracing the fun. For the ladies wanting to embrace the full look, you're going to love the #discotutu look – it’s perfect for parties or even a casual look with a chunky knit or some high tops.

Remember, the key is to make the tutu work for YOU. And trust me – there's no wrong way to do it! We've seen some spectacular tutu looks here in Basingstoke - I'm talking full disco sparkle, funky patterns, and even the odd cheeky slogan. One of my favourites was this lady's fluffy black tutu paired with a slogan tee that said, 'Disco Queen'! She rocked it so hard. It’s all about channeling your inner goddess, whether you prefer the classic, romantic ballet ballerina or the disco diva.

It’s not just about fashion, either – Tutu Tuesday is a chance to unleash our inner child and embrace a bit of playfulness. If you've never rocked a tutu, I highly encourage you to take a chance and try it out for yourself!

But it's not just about looking good - it's about the amazing sense of community it creates. Every Tutu Tuesday, you see ladies all over Basingstoke giving each other thumbs-up and compliments - it's genuinely heart-warming.

You see it at the cafes, on the high street, and in the park. And you’ll hear about it on social media, of course! So put your best smile on, capture your best look, and add #tututuesday and #discosnail to the mix, or whatever tickles your fancy! We all want to see what kind of creative look you have. And who knows, maybe you'll inspire someone else to join the tutu movement!

Remember, it’s all about expressing yourself, having fun and celebrating fashion, so don’t be shy, unleash your inner tutu enthusiast! It's all about sharing joy, dancing like nobody’s watching (or maybe everybody is) and making everyone feel a little bit more magical. Who knew a simple skirt could bring so much fun to the world?

As the day winds down, I think back on all the fab tutu-clad folks in Basingstoke. The mood was so upbeat - all that sparkle and shine definitely livened up the town! It just goes to show, Tutu Tuesday doesn't just about the fashion – it’s about building a sense of community and making the everyday feel a bit more special. A massive thank you to everyone who rocked the tutu today! I can’t wait to see what you create next week!

P.S. Don’t forget – it's not just for girls! Guys can rock the tutu look too – a pair of denim shorts, a vintage shirt, a fun tutu, and some sneakers can be seriously stylish. But hey, maybe that’s another blog for another day!
