Tutu Tuesday in Rowley Regis
Hey darlings! It's your girl, Tilly, here, back with another blog post. This time I'm talking all about tutu Tuesday in Rowley Regis and the absolute joy of embracing my inner ballerina.
For you newbies, Tutu Tuesday is basically an excuse to unleash your inner ballerina (or even just your inner flamboyant soul) and rock a tutu! Honestly, you don't have to be a dancer or even particularly skilled, a tutu is basically an instant mood boost. #tututuesday
Now, as you all know, Rowley Regis might not be the first place you think of for a dazzling tutu Tuesday, but hear me out! It's a hidden gem. Okay, there are no ballet schools, no prestigious theatres, no world famous ballets, but there's a lot of community spirit, a strong independent streak and a growing passion for the dramatic and the fabulous!
And what better way to celebrate Rowley Regis' unique spirit than with some serious, well, tutu-itude? I decided to take Tutu Tuesday to the streets, so here’s how it went down: * First, a vital wardrobe update. Obviously. Forget plain, simple tutus! This isn't about classic ballet. We're talking big, bold statements and disco tutus! You know what I mean: fluffy, voluminous and perfect for showing off some leg. * I settled on a dazzling pink tutu (it’s hard to go wrong with pink!), layered it up with a vibrant patterned sequined top (all the glitz!) and threw on my highest sparkly platforms – think Studio 54 but with a slightly punk twist. And yes, my hair was absolutely bouffant! #discodisco. I'm living for the glam! * It was a sunny but breezy Tuesday. Luckily I wore a bright, funky, sheer cardigan, and trust me it totally brought it all together. If you need to make your tutu-Tuesday work for any weather conditions, layering is key. You’ll be prepared to party - but always glammed up! * Then, it was time for the big reveal. Okay, let’s be honest, Rowley Regis was not as ready as I was for a full-on disco-style Tutu Tuesday extravaganza. People just didn’t see it coming, even though I gave fair warning on the social media channels - #tututuesday! * My little sister is a bit of a YouTube fashionista, so she decided to film me walking around, like it was the coolest catwalk on Earth. * I started at the local fish and chip shop and, guess what? The queue moved along in double-quick time with everyone cheering! There was definitely a buzz in the air. We even saw someone spontaneously bursting into the Charleston as they were leaving. Now, we all know that you can't really judge your Tutu Tuesday until it gets endorsed by the #discosnail . Well, that’s what they call a giant, painted-gold garden snail in a nearby garden, famous for sporting little glitter hearts and it’s love of the spotlight. Luckily for us, The Discosnail went full disco on Tuesday, so that was my official seal of approval right there! * I popped into the local park where kids stopped and stared, completely in awe. A couple of mums even started dancing and my own sister ended up joining the chorus. It was seriously epic! I honestly think it just goes to show that a bit of silly fun is just what we all need from time to time. * You never know who you'll meet. Even a bunch of pensioners at the bus stop started clapping and chanting "We're in love with the disco!" I was completely taken aback but then realised there’s always a little diva just waiting to come out to play. And, what's even more awesome? These guys actually took out their mobile phones and filmed us, which is amazing because that just confirms that Tutu Tuesday is now going viral, which I always knew it would! * Next stop - the library, but there was no way I was letting my day end without visiting my fave coffee shop. It had been ages since I indulged in a delicious mocha - my life involves lots of tea because that's a ballerina staple, but every once in a while I allow myself a decadent treat. Of course, I made it into a tutu-Tuesday affair by dancing my way through the door, then giving everyone in the coffee shop an impromptu disco show while they ordered their lattes. Now, I think you can all guess what happened – everyone wanted to get in on the action. It was full on, totally magical, fun fun fun. * Honestly, I ended my day with an energy boost you could only dream of – even my mom joined the party. Now that's what I call a Tutu Tuesday success!
As for tutu styles, anything goes! Here are a few of my favorite types, guaranteed to make a statement in any town or city.
- The classic ballerina tutu, a symbol of elegance and grace, perfect for those wanting a classic ballet look.
- The layered tulle tutu is all about volume, perfect for creating a stunning, romantic effect. These work best when you’re looking for a more dramatic, fairy tale kind of vibe.
- The asymmetric tutu with layers on one side makes it different and unique. If you want to go off piste with your own personal touch then this one's for you!
- The colourful and patterned tutu: Embrace your bold side. Just be confident. Nothing says ‘don't take yourself too seriously’ than an extra-large colourful tulle tutu.
- The contemporary tutu; it's time for a modern update. You can mix textures and materials. Try combining sheer tulle, cotton, silk or satin.
Honestly, Rowley Regis isn't all about ballet and theatres but it’s about people. It’s the warmth, humour and fun in this place that reminds you that all you need is a great pair of platforms and a sense of adventure. So get your sparkle on, dance like no-one is watching and enjoy!
See you next Tuesday darlings for the biggest Tutu Tuesday yet! #tututuesday #discotutu #rowleyregis
