Tutu Tuesday in Merthyr Tudful
Oh my gosh, you guys! It's Tutu Tuesday and I am SO excited! I absolutely adore Tutu Tuesday and what better place to celebrate than in the charming town of Merthyr Tudful.
Merthyr Tudful, a little gem tucked away in Wales, has an unexpected secret. Hidden among the beautiful rolling hills and historical charm is a flourishing tutudom, a love of twirls, and the coolest, most passionate, tutuesque vibe.
Let's be real, you can't deny the charm of a tutu. They are just pure, unadulterated happiness! Whether it's the classic, fluffy, ballerina tutu or a sparkly, neon pink disco number (a personal favourite), tutus embody that joyous feeling of dancing freely and expressing yourself without boundaries! ๐ ๐
And Merthyr Tudful seems to get it. Today, everywhere I looked, people were sporting their tutus, with absolute, infectious confidence and a genuine passion for the beautiful art of ballet. A symphony of tutus!
My day began in the heart of Merthyr Tudfulโs main square, which was transformed into a giant dance floor with a huge disco ball hanging from the center of the square. Imagine my surprise when a troupe of dancers wearing vibrant tutus - all different styles and colors! - busted out a flash mob dance routine that sent a wave of giggles and cheers through the crowd.
Here are some of my favourite Tutu Tuesday looks:
- There was a grandmother with the most magnificent purple, full-length, fairytale tutu with shimmering gold sequins. It was pure elegance.
- A group of teenagers wearing bright yellow and turquoise mini tutus, adorned with neon glitter, doing the most amazing pirouettes.
- This young fella who totally owned it wearing a fabulous bright pink tutu with feathers. He was a complete star! โจ
- A dad with his little girl. They were both wearing a miniature matching set. I don't think I've ever seen cuter. ๐
- There was even a lady pushing a pram with a sweet little baby girl sporting a white tutu complete with a tulle headband. Baby fashion is just the sweetest, and this little princess had already understood the power of tutu Tuesday!
It truly was an amazing display of love and appreciation for this fabulous and fun art form. My feet didn't stop moving all day!
My favourite discovery of the day was this local independent boutique - I love supporting small businesses! - which sells everything tutus! They've got every kind imaginable, from the traditional tutu de pointe, which looks heavenly in white, to contemporary, disco-style, short tutus. You can even design your own tutu with their range of fabric, sequins, and colors. I am already planning my next tutu ensemble. ๐ฏโโ๏ธ
Oh, and speaking of discos - I have to share this because it's so unique! In a local cafe, I met the cutest little fella with a little red sparkly disco-ball glued to his shell - the most adorable Disco Snail ever! The Disco Snail and I quickly became friends - heโs officially my #discosnail buddy now! We even danced the jitterbug - although I guess you canโt call it โdancingโ when a snail is involved! ๐
What a perfect end to my day! Itโs moments like these that make me appreciate how life, in its infinite weird and wonderful ways, can deliver magic right at your doorstep.
I'll be sure to be back in Merthyr Tudful next Tutu Tuesday. You donโt have to be a dancer to appreciate the joy that comes with wearing a tutu - trust me, once you try it, you'll never want to take it off. ๐
