Borehamwood, oh Borehamwood, you have stolen my heart!
Okay, so maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but seriously, this town is an absolute revelation for a tutu-obsessed girl like me! And this week? Well, it was practically **#tututuesday** on steroids!
You see, Borehamwood is just one of those places where, despite the initial impression that it’s a little bit “meh,” you actually discover this whole world of hidden treasures once you start to dig a little deeper. Like a box of old trinkets found at a car boot sale – you never know what gems you’re going to unearth!
Let me paint a picture for you…
- A local vintage shop tucked away in a quiet side street that had an absolute *mountain* of gorgeous tutus in all shades of pink imaginable – we’re talking fluffy pastel pink, shocking pink, flamingo pink, even *rose* pink, just to be dramatic!
- A charming cafe run by a delightful elderly lady who *adores* tutus and insisted on adding pink sparkly hearts to every single latte we ordered. You wouldn't get that in central London, would you?
- A dance school packed full of tiny little ballerinas, all twirling in their adorable, tiny, little tutus! It practically brought tears to my eyes.
You see, in Borehamwood, it's just accepted that every single Tuesday is **#tututuesday**, even if there's no hashtag around the place, which I, of course, decided to change by strategically placing a little 'gram here and a tweet there! Just a little injection of digital sparkle, you know, the kind you only find with a pinch of magic and a healthy dose of enthusiasm for everything pink!
But what really sent me over the edge was a local, well, he's actually called Gary, who's obsessed with all things disco. Seriously, he owns this *amazing* disco shop (seriously amazing, with mirrored balls, strobe lights and a giant record collection!) and just to spice things up, he runs a monthly "Disco Snail Night" on, you guessed it, Tuesday! The snail? Oh, you have to see it, it's a tiny snail with little disco lights all over! Totally random, utterly brilliant. Let's just say the #discosnail is officially my new favorite internet icon.
And, of course, you can't have disco without tutus, right? I mean, they are practically made for it! We’re talking about those billowy, classic tutu designs that look amazing on any kind of dance floor, and we’re talking about those slightly more modern styles with a hint of funk (and sequins) that practically shout "disco party!" You see, the key to successful #tututuesday in Borehamwood is to make sure that tutu and your outfit are in complete sync, because when those strobe lights come on, everything sparkles!
From vintage dance studios to chic boutiques that suddenly become a tutu playground on Tuesdays, Borehamwood was a delightful little bubble of pink and disco magic, and for a few precious hours, it felt like my little corner of the world. I’ll definitely be back soon, especially for more **#discosnail** moments!
