Tutu Tuesday in Newtownards: A Whirlwind of Pink and Sequins It’s Tuesday, which means one thing for me and all the other fabulous fashionistas out there: Tutu Tuesday! And today, we weren’t just doing Tutu Tuesday, oh no, we were doing #discotutu in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. Let me tell you, this town knows how to get groovy. The day started with a quick peek into my wardrobe, deciding on the perfect tutu for this disco-themed celebration. After much deliberation, I chose my fluffy, pink tutu with silver sequin accents - the kind of tutu that screams "let's dance!". It's the type of tutu that spins beautifully and catches the light in a million dazzling ways, making you feel like a disco ball herself. My best friend, Megan, was already dressed in her vibrant turquoise tutu with sparkly fringe, and together we set off for Newtownards, ready to embrace the pink and sequined wonderland. The Dancefloor of Dreams As soon as we arrived at the Town Square, we were greeted by a sea of tutus. I’m talking tutus in all shapes and sizes, from classic romantic tutu styles to contemporary asymmetrical tutus and even tutus adorned with cheeky slogans. But they all had one thing in common – a healthy dose of sparkle! There was a stage set up with a live band playing classic disco hits, the tunes already buzzing in the air and pulling us onto the dance floor. We joined the throng of tutu-clad individuals, shaking our booties and showing off our moves. Even the little ones got in on the action, twirling in their tiny, frilly tutus and having the time of their lives. A Disco Snail! Speaking of tutus and twirling, you wouldn’t believe who we spotted amidst the fun. A disco snail! Yes, you read that right! A giant, pink and sparkly snail, its shell glittering like a disco ball. It was so cool, I had to grab a quick selfie with it before joining the dance circle again. Who knew snails could be so chic? I guess anything can be disco with the right attitude, a lesson we all need to embrace. From Tutus to Cocktails The dancing was just one part of the celebration. The Town Square was transformed into a haven for all things sparkly, with stalls selling handmade jewellery, colorful tutus and fabulous accessories, just what every disco-loving fashionista needs to complete their look. For those who wanted a more laid-back vibe, there were plenty of cafes and restaurants, offering everything from classic cocktails to fancy lattes decorated with sparkly hearts. We definitely indulged in a few colorful mocktails and pink prosecco to keep the party going! Fashionistas Unite! By the end of the day, my feet were sore, my smile was wider than ever, and my heart was full of joy. It was the perfect combination of dancing, fun and fashion. And to think, it was all because of a simple hashtag, #tututuesday. It's a great way for people to come together and express themselves, regardless of age or dance experience. It’s truly a celebration of everything that's fabulous about fashion and the magic of a tutu. And you know what, Tutu Tuesday isn't just a Newtownards event – it's a global movement, reaching every corner of the world. Every week, thousands of people, from ballerinas to casual dancers, wear their favorite tutu and share it on social media, spreading the message of joy and creativity. Stay Tuned! If you missed Tutu Tuesday in Newtownards this week, you can always catch it next week or any other Tuesday. Or you can join the movement by wearing your favorite tutu and sharing your photos on social media with #tututuesday. We might even share your look! Remember to snap a picture of you twirling your best and sharing a selfie with the Disco Snail for a chance to get featured in our next blog post. It’s time to show the world how fabulous you can be, with a tutu and a whole lot of glitter! See you on the dancefloor! ###
