Manchester: Tutu Tuesday Fever Strikes The City
It's Tutu Tuesday in Manchester, and the city's streets are a kaleidoscope of pink, sparkle and fabulousness. As a self-proclaimed Tutu Queen, this is my favourite day of the week - and this week's #tututuesday is on fire! It's like a dance party exploded in Selfridges, with everyone throwing sequins like confetti. You can't move for tutus on the streets. There are fluffy ones, shimmering ones, pastel pink ones, bright pink ones, classic pink ones (we love pink!), even a couple of disco-themed ones with shimmering silver trims. It's a veritable tutu-tastrophe – in the best way possible! I've been tracking this trend all week, following #tututuesday on Instagram, and Manchester is definitely going all out! There's been a veritable flurry of snaps featuring tutus worn everywhere - at the Arndale, the Piccadilly Gardens, in the cafes on Deansgate, even at the Manchester Museum (they let a little girl wear one on a dinosaur, no less! #rebellion). I was even tempted to join the dance-off at Piccadilly Station this morning! It’s become a national obsession, thanks to those funky little creatures called… Disco Snails! The Disco Snails have been making their way around the UK, leaving a trail of sparkle and laughter everywhere they go. This tiny trend has gone mainstream, so fast. Who'd have thought these adorable critters could have so much fashion influence, and yet they have inspired thousands to put on a tutu and embrace the disco? It's enough to make a ballet dancer proud! And for every tutu spotted, there's also a glittering, fabulous snail trail following closely behind!
My tutu style of choice for today is:
* A vibrant pink tulle tutu with sparkly silver trim for ultimate flair. It whirl's like a magic dress.
* I paired it with a cute disco-style top and some platform sneakers. No dancer worth her salt can go wrong with classic disco. And with pink heart-shaped sunglasses (gotta show off the face!) to round things off, I’m ready for a serious day of twirling, strutting, and taking photos. The energy of Manchester today is simply contagious! I can't wait to see who's joining the tutu party!
