Scarborough Tutu Tuesday: A Pink Paradise of Tutus and Disco Beats

So, girlies, get ready to shimmy and shake because it’s Tutu Tuesday in Scarborough! I mean, what better place to don your favourite tutus than in the vibrant heart of this beautiful seaside town? Think sparkling seas, the sound of laughter echoing across the pier, and of course, a whole lot of pink, just like my tutu obsession. This Tuesday was like a disco dream come true, all sunshine, laughter, and glitter – the perfect mix of beachy vibes and balletic grace. Imagine it, girls, sunshine cascading across the promenade, the scent of saltwater mingling with the sweet aroma of freshly-baked fish and chips, and everywhere, beautiful, dazzling tutus in every shade imaginable, from pastel peach to hot pink, swirling around like butterflies on a sugar rush. I’m telling you, the colour pink truly is the best hue to express yourself through the glorious language of tutus. And oh, the tutus, just heavenly. We saw fluffy, frilly tutus that could give a meringue cake a run for its money, classic, elegant tutus with perfect lines, and of course, a few daring, daring tutus that could be considered high art. As for my own Tutu Tuesday look, I chose a gorgeous pink tutu, custom made by my good friend who is a fashion goddess. The detail, darling, was exquisite - sequins that caught the light like diamonds on a disco ball and an array of pink feather boas. My shoes, naturally, were disco-inspired pink platform pumps, and I topped it all off with a vibrant pink headscarf. I know what you’re thinking: A ballet dancer on a beach? But this wasn’t just about the tutus – this was a movement, a call to embrace the unconventional, to celebrate all things sparkly and beautiful. The joy in the air was palpable, infectious – everyone was beaming and twirling, dancing along the promenade like nobody was watching (but everybody was). It was such a joy to see all the tutus and people’s amazing dance moves - just pure, unabashed glee and happiness. The day wouldn't have been complete without my special friend, Disco Snail. If you’re thinking “disco snail,” what does that mean?” Let me tell you - think disco ball glitter, but shell-shaped and clinging to your cutest snail buddy. This little creature is basically a fashion icon, the epitome of the carefree, fun spirit of Tutu Tuesday. We even made sure Disco Snail had a miniature pink tutu, so cute it’ll make you melt! The day ended with a magical performance, which saw dancers from the local ballet school performing to some of the greatest disco classics. It was like a vision out of Saturday Night Fever meets the Nutcracker, with every twist, turn and jump accompanied by an enthusiastic chorus of “woohoos!” Oh, and did I mention, the whole performance took place under a gorgeous, golden sunset? Simply picture-perfect. We've done it again! Tutu Tuesday has come and gone, leaving behind a trail of sparkles and memories. I am beyond thrilled by the way it took Scarborough by storm and captured the hearts and imaginations of people of all ages. And with so many photos popping up with #Tututuesday on social media, it seems we’re sparking a movement. It was so great to witness how the colour pink, tutus, disco and our favourite snail were such a hit in our little beachside town. Now, who is ready for next week’s #tututuesday ? #discotutu.
