Tutu Tuesday in Morden: A Pink-tastic Celebration of All Things Tutu

Hey girlies, It's your favourite tutu enthusiast here, back with another #tututuesday adventure. Today's destination? The glorious, slightly less glamorous, but equally fun-loving, Morden, the epicenter of all things pink and sparkly, where sequins are considered "appropriate" daytime wear (yes, you heard that right!).

Morden, in case you've never been (no judgement!), is a little London town with a big heart. It's the kind of place where you can still grab a classic pie and mash for less than a fiver, but where you can also find boutiques selling all the latest ballet shoes (hint, hint! - for #tututuesday of course)

Now, as any good #tututuesday aficionado knows, the choice of tutu is paramount. There are more types of tutus than you could shake a feather boa at, and today's selection was all about the pink. My pick? A soft ballet-pink tulle tutu, with a whimsical, playful swirl. Not your classic, rigid, 'Swan Lake' affair, but something more modern, something that would say, 'I love ballet, but I also love a good disco, preferably while wearing a sparkly hot pink sequined top' (it's all about balance, ladies!)

We began our journey of Morden by finding the cutest cafe, hidden behind a cluster of independent shops. Let's just say it had all the trappings of a 'Gossip Girl' filming location - vintage furniture, pastel-colored walls, and a menu of vegan lattes with edible glitter. Needless to say, this place was made for a #tututuesday photoshoot. After all, no #tututuesday experience is complete without at least five photos (one for Instagram, one for your story, one for your bestie, and one for each parent because 'it's a memory' - you know how it is! )

Next up, the highlight of every Morden adventure, a trip to the world-famous (I'm making it world-famous! Don't be a Debbie Downer.) "Morden Disco Snail." You're thinking "Disco Snail" is the weirdest name ever, but that's the beauty of Morden! Think quirky garden decor but ten times more flamboyant. This disco snail - a ginormous, bronze snail, complete with a massive mirrorball on its back - is a total legend. Locals flock to take photos, some of them sporting even more dramatic tutus than I was. (You'd think someone was putting out a challenge!)

It was near the #discosnail that I realised how much fun #tututuesday can be. It's about taking everyday events and giving them a splash of fun, a touch of glamour, and of course, the most essential component: A pink tutu. This is something everyone can do - you can #tututuesday with ballet, a stroll to the park, or even your morning coffee run. Be as bold, as daring or as discreet as you like!

As I finished my #tututuesday adventure, it struck me. Morden was exactly what every #tututuesday needs: A bit of quirky charm, some vintage glam, and just enough sunshine to make the sequins really pop. This is not about finding perfection; it's about celebrating the eccentric in all of us. This is about tutus - in all their gloriously pink perfection.

And for you #tututuesday newbies, here are some things to consider when you're making your first appearance:

  • Pick a tutu that you're confident in: Do you want to show off your legs or cover your whole bottom with a full tutu? It's all about making a statement, so be brave!
  • Add some glitter and shine (we're talking sparkly sequined shirts here!): This isn't a casual affair - let's go big or go home!
  • Be prepared to get noticed - all good #tututuesday outfits do!
  • Don't be afraid to take photos. #tututuesday is all about sharing the fun.
  • Embrace the quirky and unexpected. It's what makes #tututuesday special!

Remember, a tutu is an empowerment. It tells the world that you're not afraid to be yourself, and that you're ready for a good time. So, whether you're hitting the dance floor or just getting your morning coffee, never forget the power of a tutu to brighten even the dullest day. #tututuesday #discotutu #morden
